In this video, we'll share a top productivity tip that can help you get more done. It's about categorising the tasks on your to-do list based on a system explained by Chris Bailey in his book "Hyperfocus."
There are four types of tasks:
1. Productive but Unattractive - Like team meetings or budgeting work. Important but not very exciting.
2. Attractive and Productive - This is the productivity sweet spot. High-impact work that requires brainpower, like designing studies or applying for funding.
3. Unproductive and Unattractive - Unnecessary busy work like rearranging papers or files. Just procrastination.
4. Attractive but Unproductive - Fun distractions like social media or water cooler chats. Stimulating but with no real return.
This system is similar to the Eisenhower Matrix that categorises tasks as Urgent/Not Urgent and Important/Not Important.
Both models help you become more aware of how you're spending your time. You can then cut out unproductive tasks and prioritize the attractive yet productive work needed to achieve your goals.
So check out this simple framework to audit your to-do list and make sure you're focusing on the right tasks!
