Been fishing for 45 years and just found Bass Resource a couple of months ago. You are never too old to learn new things.

Thanks for posting this! It's an easy thing that can be done to help fish survive. In addition, playing a fish as little as your equipment will allow prevents lactic acid build up in its muscles, resulting in easier revival upon release. The exception to this is deep water fishing, where a fish should be reeled in at a rate that will allow its swim bladder to function properly.

This is a solid way to keep our resources thriving... May I also suggest a full on battery of videos on proper handling of bass from the second you get them out of the water and maintaining their slime coat and having certain helpful tools handy to even understanding a timely release insuring that if there are figure 8's to be made that there will be few if any. :)..... Folk have your camera poised and in a handy spot so no time is wasted.... Remember fish can only breathe once they are back in their habitat and you'll have the picture to honor your efforts.

Practiced this a few times, but the video definitely gave more insight. Wish a lot of the "pros" or "tournament anglers" would pay attention like this. It would stop a lot of the die off that happens after big tournaments. I know in the AZ lakes, which is where I live, a die off from a 2 day tournament is crucial because our bass populations are not as vast as most states.
