Hi I'm new to your channel, gorgeous garden. Beautiful colors. What zone in Canada are you? I plant flowers, etc. from zone 2-, but they say 3a.
@TracysHomeGarden3 жыл бұрын
Our garden is in zone 5/6 (Toronto, On). You can prop any plant plants that are zone 3 in your zone 2 as long as it is a somewhat more protected area of the harden. Again, the zone categories do change as the temps they used are all 10 average …and not exact values in a given year. For example, last year our temps were truly a value of that in zone 6…:however, the year before that I think we were more 4/5….so again anything can happen. So I say plant but give it some winter protection just in case you get a “bad” winter. Happy gardening Darlene! 💚🪴🙏

Hi Christine, If you see buds then they will form blooms soon. If they were recently planted then they may be blooming later (like now). After a full winter in the ground, they will form blooms earlier next year in your warmer zone 8 garden. 💚🪴🙏

Hi do you prune the macro.... whatever hydrangea?
@TracysHomeGarden2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, We get a lot of die back because of our cold northern winter so I only cut back the dead stems on Macrophylla hydrangeas in late spring (end of May). These are always the last to leaf out and requires the least pruning. If you live in warmer climates and don’t get a lot of dieback, you can prune the stems right after their blooms fade in mid-summer. Prune these in mid-summer will still allow the blooms to form and bloom on old wood come early next summer. Hopefully that helps to answer your question. 💚💚💚

Hi Tracy. I love your garden. I am also a great hydrangea fan. Your flowers are fantastic! I love your pastel colors but I would have one suggestion. I think that some blue flowers would make the other plants pop out even more. Just a bit of a contrast would be GREAT! Your videos are a pleasure to watch. Thank you. I am a fan of yours
@TracysHomeGarden2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Peatie, I do love blooms with shade of blues and purples. I planted the Macrophylla hydrangeas and meant to acidify the soil to turn the blooms blue but it ends up being something that is not viable on a yearly basis. I have also tried planting blue larkspur and delphinium but they don’t seem to do well in my garden. 💚😣
@peatieginger80252 жыл бұрын
The same thing happened to me when I had planted larkspur in my garden. They just disappeared after the summer and never returned. My earth has a lot of clay in it and I'm sure that was the problem. I had thought about planting them in a pot and placing it in the ground. I never did get around to doing it though. Well, keep up the good work. I love to see how others enjoy their garden as much as I do mine.
