Hi Luke, I wanted to drop you a line (long overdue) and say thank you very much for all of these scooter videos! About 9 months ago, I bought a Vespa (I live in BKK) and I had zero experience riding a motorbike, let alone driving on the other side of the road, or in Bangkok traffic. Anyway, I found an abandoned road near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station and practiced daily going step by step with each video that you produced last year. It was a game changer. Previously, I took a 3 hour lesson and it wasn't too helpful. Basically, I just followed someone around on a scooter without any instruction. Not sure if you offer group or private lessons, but if you do I'd be interested in learning more about what to do if you are going to crash, riding in the rain, or driving at night. Again, thanks a lot for the videos, they are extremely helpful! Cheers mate

Thanks for sharing and I am pleased these videos are helpful. As you know there are way too many accidents on the roads - so this is a primary motivation for me making these videos - to help people be safe and avoid accdients. Rain and night riding - good topics! I'll add them to my lest of future videos. Offering Lessons - right now no... but if I do in the future I will let you know.

It was helpful indeed! My second day on a scooter and I already see that 90% of drivers are below this basic level of skill how to do parking.

Hi! I just wanna say THANK YOU. I'm a girl who lives in a small city and needed my own vehicle, so I decided that a scooter was the best option. I went from an absolute beginner (not even a regular bike) to being able to ride all the way down to my school just in 10 days watching your series over and over again (in my city, there are not scooter or motorcycle's instructors). What safety tips do you think are the most important? I'm still afraid of falling or crushing hahaha .Thank you very much and keep safe

Luke -- I've been riding off and on -- scooters and motorcycles -- for some 54 years. That was one of the best sets of video tips I've yet seen. I had never thought about turning the engine off when walking my Vespas back (or my motorcycles, either, for that matter), but it makes great good sense. Thanks for that one! As for the kickstand, I NEVER used it on either of my Vespas (can't quite remember if either of 'em had kicks, but...). From day one, I used the center stand on those scoots to great effect. (I did use the kick for my most recent motorcycle, an 850-pound '05 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000...a tad large for me to pop up on the center stand!). Seems to me that, on Vespas, if the kickstand is not REALLY tight against the frame when you kick it UP, the bike will not start. I have read/seen where this can be a problem for new riders not knowing why their new, fairly expensive scooter will no longer crank. Just a thought...now, on to PART B!

Thanks for sharing! You have a wealth of experience and I like how you pointed out the need for the kick stand to be 100% up for the engine to start. I think every beginner has had those moments thinking "why won't this damn thing start!?!?!".

This is an excellent tutorial video. Such useful tips that people tend to overlook! I loved it. I am a beginner and just about to leave for my first short scooter ride. Thank you so much, Luke! I appreciate it. ✨

Glad to see your videos pop up on my feed. Your training videos contributed significantly to my learning to ride my Vespa. Been riding since May of this year a 2023 GTS SuperTech. Been a real thrill. lol Thanks again for what you do.

@ianwatsons Жыл бұрын
Warm Up? Back in the good old days... yes. But with new and improved technology there is no need.

Is it a moped, a bike, a scooter, a motorcycle? What is it?
