I'm approaching 59 years old and I'm shrinking from 5'9" to 5'8" on a good day with a 30.5" inseam. Going from KLR 650 - Pan America w/o the ARH, - 2018' 1290 SA-R, - 890 Adventure (S), I use the techniques you demonstrated and the only issue comes with fatigue for me. When I'm fatigued, that's when I make a mistake on slick pavement, rocks,, sloped driveways, etc... The 890 Adventure has been nice in that aspect, I can get both balls of my feet firmly on the deck. All that being said, I'm shopping around to trade the 890 for a T7 to get back to my Yamaha roots and simplify. Back to a taller machine.

After bleeding orange for years, I went from 1190, 790, & 890R with the short seat to a '21 T7. Loving the T7. It's a shade taller than my 890, but its trackability and dependability lets me sleep at night while on the road. I'm 69 at 5'8 with a 30" inseam.

@@MrHamish54 We’re basically the same dimensions, I’m about 10 years younger. Recently got the T7 and yeah, I dig it more that the bikes that came before it.

Good tricks, but I have a question. When it is necessary to reverse movement to go back, it is very difficult on one foot. Do you jump off and maneuver the motorcycle while standing?

a lot of times it's better to get off the bike and push it back. There is a technique for using the suspension compression and rebound to walk the bike backwards. It works better on dirt bikes though.

5'7" or 171 cm. That's the optional rally seat, which is why it's so tall.
