I'd like to see as a sequence to this one as of when you can start working on a correct bend. How do you know the straightness is confirmed enough and how do you teach them to bend without falling over the shoulder?

Wow thanks a lot for this! I am educating my first young horse at the moment, a 4yo Sandro Hit. Under supervision of my trainer of course, but still it is really nice to see how you approach it. I forget easily that you need to be really clear with them, especially in the aids with the reins. I always try to make it look subtle and clean, but I realise now sometimes it's better to make it very clear to avoid confusion.

I’d also like to see the in hand/ half steps process with a horse that really doesn’t know it to a horses that is a bit more established. Maybe some videos on how to ride movements for a 10 especially at lower levels.

One of the best videos about shoulder control I have ever seen! But I have a question: When do you start with bending? In particular, I mean the latelar flexion in the corners and on the circle, so that the horse accepts the inner leg.

When lunging I was always taught the lunge line goes through the ring and attaches on the other side of the bit so you have better control especially with a young horse. Also I like to see that you stretch long and low after your training work out;)

Loved the Young Horse video. I would love to hear more about the young horse training. How many rides a week for a 3 year old? Do you always in the ring or do you take one or two days each week to hack? If the horse wants to put his head up, do you ask him to accept the bit and keep his back up before pushing him more forward? Thanks so much.

I love your videos they are helping me so much with my horse, My question is an observance of bending verses turning I like this and I can see where this is a good application to keeping the horse between leg and hand rather than bending the horse around the inside leg particularly for the longditudinal issues of balance can you explain further please

@Begijnhoeve_official2 жыл бұрын

Please can you give advice on how to teach a horse self carriage and how to stretch down, if possible in a lunge like warmup like you did a the beginning. I am helping to retrain a polo horse and she is not strong in her back at all. She does stretch down into the outside rein, but overcompensates and stretches to far and then returns to her high head carriage. She does not stay where there is a nice connection and she struggles with straightness a lot
@Begijnhoeve_official2 жыл бұрын
hi ! Sorry only just saw your message. First make her responsive to your leg. Doesnt matter what her head does. Than I think you should start turning left and right without losing energy. Untill she starts moving over her back more and more. First this before the step of self carriage

What type of bit do you use on a young horse?
@Begijnhoeve_official2 жыл бұрын
i like a simple bit like an Egg but or something. Not a sharp bit !
@brendaoenema68892 жыл бұрын
@Begijnhoeve_official2 жыл бұрын

You dont need to go fast but you always want your horse to think forward, so you can keep him active. For example If you collect your horse he is slowing down in speed but the rhytm stays almost the same otherwise he will be behind your leg and not thinking forward anymore.
