your wonderful and beautiful videos ,Thank you so much . your comment about anatomy bridle gave me a big chance. I tried a micklem bridle ( same type ) with my Kwpn boy . It was amazing. I felt he came so close to me and he looked happier. I'll try next lesson again. My instructor is worrying about in lateral work( half pass, I' m learning now ), it may be difficult for me with this bridle ,because my boy may be collected to much. I hope we can make it! Hi Rob! You are such an amazing rider! So sensitive and gently! So I've noticed on your videos" how to riding a young horse" that when you want to do a circle, your horse is looking a little bit outside, am I right? So I have problem with my youngster to do circles,because he want to go away from a circle in the space, where is exit from the training hall 🙄 please could you give me an advice how to do it better and learn it in a correct way 😊 Thanks a lot! Have a great day and thx for your videos
@Begijnhoeve_official3 жыл бұрын
Thnx! When I want to correct a bit more and I ride the shoulder more inside sometimes I keep my horse looking a bit outside. When my horse wants to do the opposite i keep the head more inside and steer the shoulder outside with my outside rein. Does this help ? 🙈

Wondering if you can give me a couple of pointers? I have a youngster who has been backed since September. Shes going great all things considered. The problem I have mainly is transitioning in to canter. It's very difficult for her to do. She is heavy on the shoulder and isn't light enough to jump up into canter and her balance isn't there yet. I've had a few suggestions from others which i have tried with a pinch of salt and I certainly do not want to go down the route of lots of whipping. Lots of leg just makes her faster and unbalanced and we always end up on the wrong canter lead. She gets frustrated easy and cant maintain canter for very long. Partly it's her size she is pretty big and very muscular which I think is getting in the way of her flexibility. I know it's hard without actually seeing us riding. But any pointers would be greatly appreciated. As the more I try the faster she shuts down, but only in the canter her trot and walk work is really going well. Many thanks.
@Begijnhoeve_official3 жыл бұрын
Ai yes thats hard to estimate like this. With a young horse you sometimes just keep trotting more and more forward untill they “fall” into canter. The head position is not important. Just dont pull. Sometimes going straight instead of a circle makes it easier for a youngster to canter, sometimes the other way around 😅 Good luck 💪🏻💪🏻

Thank you for that. I will deffinately give it a go. As I have been slowing her down for the bends, I wont next time!, Thankyou

Hi guys! Nice video again! Could you make a specific video on how to keep a nice, soft and steady contact with your horse? Or how you practice that? Mine is often in and out. Sometimes strong, other times very soft. It's difficult in riding because the contact constantly changes. Due to this, his head also moves a lot. More up, more down, in front of the vertical, behind the vertical... Urgh, it's such a strugle sometimes. Would love your insights about this!

@Begijnhoeve_official3 жыл бұрын
It depends really on the horse how the balance is! When I do it with a 4 year old it’s always just for ‘fun’ not like it needs to be perfect or so!

@@Begijnhoeve_official Have you ever trained a youngster that is extremly spooky? I have a five-year old that I broke myself when he was 3 but he is very dangerous as when he spooks he bolts and I have already got bucked off many times. This is my first youngster that is so spooky, I have never had such a horse in the past and I've broken many. He doesn't spook only under saddle but also when lunged or walked in hand. The strange thing is that he is not a fowardthinking horse and you always need to remind him to go forward. Any tips?

Why do you have him flexed to the outside?
@Begijnhoeve_official3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes when a horse is not straight you can take him off the outside shoulder more easily. Next step is to have a bit of bending to the inside and still have him on two reins
@chrisduc14 жыл бұрын
How old are your horse???? What’s young??? And in my opinion , by the second horse , you allow him to go into canter even that you do not want it.....that’s not good education for a young horse, I always insisted on what I want from my horse.... from the beginning on. Even if you let a 3year old horse run free inside our hall. I insist on always run on one hand .. 5 min left 5 min rights.mostly we have been two guys for better control. They learned quickly to run always on one hand! Good education as well for free jumping further on

Sir, your horse's hind end is out behind like a caboose; if you didn't have good moving horses you would be riding 4s. Learn to help them raise their shoulder by stepping up from behind and stop riding them behind the bridle. Your current riding is the kind that breaks the horse down. You need to build him up. Edit: Also, why is your browband stuck up and pinching your horses ear? That is just sloppy. He was better after the canterwork
