Skatepark trails skateboarders mtbers the end of this video, everyone gets stoked when someone does something for the first time, is universal in all those communities...Hell I am sitting on my ass at the moment and I felt stoked when he dropped in at the end. I think it is because we all have had that fear holding us back from something we know we can do. I think that's why having someone there to help boost your confidence, and celebrate pulling it off, which helps boost your confidence even more. Btw That was awesome Jack.

That was wicked. You should definitely do more tutorial videos where you get Jack to do the skills Blake shows how to do before hand. It not only shows a real example of someone doing the skill but also how they get passed that initial fear and it's so inspiring see and hear the way Jack felt after doing it. Great video and nice work on both the camera side and the building yourself up to doing it Jack.

That super positive attitude and the encouragement from Blake were plain perfect for the guy trying! From someone who still struggles with that, I do a little trick to try to follow the advices given here: At the entrance, with the hand on the front brake side: I grip the handlebar really hard. That prevents me from panicking and blocking with two hands either killing speed totally (fear tends to win over my will) or pushing my body forward (very bad business). Once in (non refundably hahahahaha), I get my fingers close to the brake again to modulate the speed as usual

I can't thank you enough for this video. I bought my first bike in 25 years two weeks ago and have been working on my skills (Watching as many GMBN videos as I can) The is a trail where I ride with a chute and I have been gathering my courage to give it a go. Between your advice/teaching and Jack showing me that I am not the only one with a little trepidation and I think I'll take the plunge(pun intended) tomorrow. Only problem is, the chute I will be trying is loose over hard and has roots at the bottom to deal with but I think I can ride a line that misses most of them. Thanks Blake and a big thanks to Jack.! Cheers from the US!!!

Just yesterday I was considering going down a steep chute, only it was all rock, if it goes wrong the consequences are going to be serious. I wasn't wearing much protection (besides my helmet and gloves) so I decided to skip it, for now. Next time I'll be better equipped with knee pads, elbow pads and the chin bar; I think have the technique down, so I will go back another day.

@@yengsabio5315 Depression as you know is a roller-coaster. One second your up and the next your down. I've also been battling depression for it seems like my entire adult life (which is a long time, but not saying how long 😜). I introduced my daughter to MTB because it's the number one thing that helps me. I think it's something to do with having intense focus on now and 2 seconds in front of you, regardless of what happened 2 seconds or more in the past. Plus it's just damn fun, even though sometimes it's a struggle forcing myself to just get on the bike. Lots'a love back at yu buddy, from Australia. Note, I reposted this because I think my last post either failed or got deleted.

More of these, please! Watching GMBN experts ride features doesn't help me. I don't have a similar level of experience, skill, or confidence. Watching an expert coach (and encourage) an intermediate rider does help. I'd even like to see more vids like this of easier features that are still intimidating for blue trail guys like me. My current nemesis is tight, steep downhill switchbacks. I'd like to see Blake coach a steep switchback rookie who takes a few tries to finally get around it without stopping.

I can remember a similar situation when faced with going down the Kamikaze water slide in Spain. Stood at the top for almost 10 minutes trying to psych myself up. Was about to go back down the stairs then a kid came and went straight down. He couldn't have been older than 8 years. I had to do it after that. lol

Ride without a dropper or dont use it then you get learn quickly. We used to do it on 26 inch cross country bikes back in the day. Oh yea and they had 120MM stems. You were not back far enough unless you saw the saddle in your face or you could see the seatpost clamp at eye level. You know what I mean. Gotta love new bikes.
