How to Ride the Sky Train and Valley Metro Rail from the Phoenix Airport to Downtown Phoenix (2024)

This video show me arriving to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Terminal 3. I show how to locate the free PHX SkyTrain that takes you past Terminal 4 and continues onward to it's final stop near 44th Street and Washington.
At that point, you can pay either $2 for a one way ticket, or $4 for an All Day pass, and walk the innerlink bridge over to Washington Street, where you are on the platform and ready to board the Valley Metro Rail toward Downtown Phoenix. Note: If you are going toward Tempe instead, you can still use this video, but just board on the opposite side of the track from what you see at the end of the video. Filmed on March 2, 2024.

Amtrak's former Union Station is located at 401 W Harrison, some 5 miles due west of the Sky Train stop at 44th Street & Washington. There needs to be some planning for future passenger connectivity between Sky Harbor airport and Amtrak. It seems like the 44th Street location might become a good spot for a re-located Amtrak station. The existing former Amtrak station is currently in use for other purposes. Not sure if it's still owned by Amtrak. Potentially, some future passenger could arrive by plane at Sky Harbor, then take the Sky Train to 44th Street, then hop onto an Amtrak train headed east to Tucson, west towards Yuma & Los Angeles, or northwest to Las Vegas.

Lived here since '94. Breaks my heart to see Sky Harbor so full of skeezy/ghetto people. Reminds me of the LA airport. Thankfully Gateway is still nice and clean, and of course you can always charter flights out of Scottsdale or Falcon.
