This is the best video ever of someone explaining how to install something on your truck. I hate watching videos of someone recording themselves for 20+ min and they never go straight to the point. This video shows step by step what to do in less than 10 min. Imagine you have your hands full of grease. You are trying to do something, all you need is a direct instruction on what to do to complete the task. Thanks.

Best instructions ever. Straight to the point step by step each tool used etc. Thanks!

I did the upgrade also and my 8th injector got really quiet and the rest of the engine I can hear the fan pushing air when revving motor versus diesel clattering sound. I’ve not had enough time to see if MPG increase but pedal response is much better. Also highway I’m barely touching pedal. 👍👍👍👍👍

Just finished this about an hour ago. Along with the oil cross over and new CAC boots. Thank you for the video. It really helped. The passenger side fitting removal and install sucked.

Okay, the HPX install was a piece of cake. The FRX though? Complete pain in the ass! Those stupid square bolts, especially the one by the AC pump!!!

Great video, thank-you for taking the time to show this. Just bought my first 7.3 and I'm kind of excited to get started on some upgrades.

Best first things to do are straight pipe it and get the 6637 air filter from rifraff. Those 2 things make a huge difference!

So both hoses attach to the Square Plugs located on the Front for the Passenger Side and behind the Turbo on the Driver's Side? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
@RockCrawlinJeeps7 жыл бұрын
That is correct. The plugs are replaced with a supplied fitting from Riffraff Diesel.

@@RockCrawlinJeeps I'm having a very hard time trying to remove the rear plug. I pb blasted like crazy, tried a 8 point 5/16, 9/32 pipe plug socket, about everything and still cannot remove it. Any tips?
@teamja10888 ай бұрын
I pulled the turbo and pedestal to clean and reseal them (which also allowed me to change the OEM impeller with a wicked wheel impeller). Pulling the turbo and pedestal provided me with easier access to the rear plug. The front plug on the passenger side needed much more torque to remove it than the rear driver's side plug near the turbo. @@abrahammuno4444

Is this essentials the same thing that other companies sell for 3 times as much? The regulated return kit?
@yjsuck5 жыл бұрын
Nope same idea but not the same product
@NotSure74745 жыл бұрын
@yjsuck how is dead heading into two heads better then deadheading into just one? Regulated pressure system has a bleed off line how does this add on help? Does the millisecond difference between the firing of the two back cylinders really afford enough time for this line to equalize and deliver the fuel required?

Very detailed. I've got a '95 7.3. Wonder if it's all the same.

mine stripped as well, cant get it off with vice grips as well. did you get it resolved?
@codyjenks655 жыл бұрын
4 or 8 point socket should’ve been used
@teamja10888 ай бұрын
Using a square tap socket, I rounded the snot out of the front / passenger side plug as it was super torqued in there. Using vise grips I was able to remove it thankfully. The rear / driver's side came out with comparitively little torque needed but I had already removed the turbo and pedestal to rebuild and reseal them to also provide better access as I did not want to chance rounding that bugger. After rounding the passenger side off I noticed the Riffraff FRX kit actually comes with the needed 9/32" square socket - next time I should look at what comes in the kit before starting the process of removing parts.

This is listed for the 99-03 7.3 but does anyone know if it will work on the 94-97 engine? I can't imagine them being that different however I don't have 2 engines to compare
@acsallcallservice36835 жыл бұрын
the return on the OBS fuel bowl is different im not sure if this or a SD regulator would bolt to the obs fuel bowl.
@isaaccollura664 жыл бұрын
Oh my heart sank when you said early 99 s would have to grind a bit on the up pipe. I just finished installing stage 1 single shot injectors and a billet compressor wheel. Had to remove whole turbo to change out the wheel because early 99 turbo sits too low to remove bottom compressor housing bolt. But holy smokes what a difference! Truck has 350k miles and she feels brand new... better than new! I’d like to do the riffraff E99 turbo upgrade and that d be a good time to do the frx I guess
@ateamportablewelding3 жыл бұрын
What this do?
@teamja10888 ай бұрын
The FRX allows for air removal from the fuel rail in the heads instead of forcing all of that air through the injectors, which can take forever, and has been known to take so long your batteries may die before the truck fires over following an injector change job.
