Keep these tips and tricks fishing videos coming. They are GREAT and "Oh '" so valuable to save. Have you started using those mylar strips in your trolling setups instead of live or dead bait ?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

Thanks a million for watching and leaving some stellar feedback. So, I've used the mylar strips in the past and had minimal success... However, your question possess a great comparison opportunity. When the weather clears up, I'm gonna have to do a one-on-one challenge. Thanks for the idea. It's always great to hear from you and truly appreciate your support. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Heath, Great information for the trolling fishermen. Unfortunately, I don't have a boat anymore and trolling from the beach is really hard. I just can't run fast enough. Hopefully the boat fishermen find this information useful. Hope the family is well. Take care and good luck, Mickey

Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. Correct, lack of boat = problems for trolling. And yes running up the beach, unless you're an ostrich, can be slightly tricky. Silver lining is that these lures are ultra effective. Sorry, all I have is moral support on this one. Thanks for everything. The family is well. Hoping the same for you guys up there. Take care ;)

Hi Heath, I sold my boat in 2006 and life has not been the same. I do fish on my friend's boat and surf fish in the fall. If I lived in FL, then I could fish all year. Stay safe and good luck, Mickey

Nice video! Just curious, are you going to make a video where we just watch you go fishing soon? Or do you mostly make these how to videos

Thanks a boat load for watching. It's always great hearing from you. Your support makes all the effort pay off. Yes fishing vids coming soon. I'd much rather do them than in studio "how to's"... However, the weather has been nasty here for several weeks due to the yearly prevailing northeast winds, and this weekend tropical storm Eta will be blowing through... Seems to always be something lately... Trust me, I'm dying to get back out there. Tight lines & take care ;)

The lure has a weighted head most likely from what I have seen then the added weight, how deep does this troll at? Just under the surface or deeper? Thanks and awesome videos!
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. First, the added weight does help it keep from popping out of the water when I'm trolling around 10 knots, yes, it trolls just under the surface. Plus, the little extra weight keeps it more streamline and helps add some bubbles and smoke to trail behind the lure. Large dolphin and marlin love it. Hope this helps. Thanks again for the support. If you put a weight or bead before the hook you ruin the space made in the head to stick the ballyhoo beak or strip bait end! I caught black, blue, striped marlin, sails, and mahi that way.

Again , love your videos and I was most intrigued with your lure with no bait behind it. I used two # 7 hooks along with the 1.5 lb weight. I was proud of myself to be able to put it togerher, however, it seemed like the hook was further extended ( the entire hook) beyond what you showed on the video. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. ?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and sharing. The problem might be your weight. It might be too large. It's supposed to be a 1.5 ounce egg sinker, not 1.5 lbs (24 ounces). Hopefully that's the case and will solve you issue. If not, take a picture of it and email it to me southfloridasaltwaterfishing@gmail.com I'll walk you through it make it right. A true pleasure to hear from you. Thanks again for your support and positive feedback. Tight lines & take care ;)

Great Videos! Question for you. How are you putting your ballyhoo on this pre-made rig?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Жыл бұрын
I don't. You gotta rig the ballyhoo first then slip the islander over it.

When trolling for grouper how to you tie the rápala lure? Do you use wire or cable? And do you put a swieil or tie directly to the lure?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. When I troll for grouper I use a Rapala magnum x-rap 40 with about 10 feet of 80 pound test leader, I will make a loop and use a crimp to connect the leader to the lure. I do not use wire. I use a a swivel to connect the mainline to the leader. Hope this helps. Best wishes for the new year. Tight lines & take care ;)

do you need a planer for these ilanders?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. No you don't necessarily need a planer on this lure. It trolls fine up on top, however there is no harm in trolling it on a planner both techniques are just as equally productive. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

Is it possible to troll this at 13mph with ballyhoo or will the bait wash out?

🙏 @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing is there anyway to troll ballyhoo that fast? I was recently I’m bahamas and a captain told me it’s all in the way you rig the bait but I feel like he may not be telling the truth. Anytime I got over to 10mph the bait was flopping and flipping out of the water
