Well, now you've done it. You didn't listen to me and buy your bird a week ahead of time so you could brine it and dry it and season it up and everything, and now you need to roast it and it's still frozen rock solid like a bowling ball. Well, all is not lost. You CAN roast a frozen Turkey and have it come out great. Here's how.
Gluten Free, Diabetic Friendly, Low Carb.

Cooking time for a frozen Turkey is 1 1/2 times the regular cooking time and 165 internal temp for a minimum of 2 mins to kill the bacteria that may be in the Turkey

As we demonstrated in the video, those are wild over-estimates.

@@FoodslingerTV Yeah, most people bake their turkey to 165 IN THE OVEN, and then when it comes out, it STILL continues to cook, resulting in a DRY BIRD. I pull my bird at 155 and let rest to 160-165. If it's a little "undone" then there's always that handy invention called the MICROWAVE oven, to touch it up a bit. But again, most people manage to screw up THAT simple task as well!

What about I’ve had a frozen turkey in a 5 gallon bucket outside, which is still wrapped and then inside of a trash bag in the bucket full of water and ice a little bit and I change it roughly 30 to 40 minutes, is there a problem with leaving it in the rapper and is there a problem with it being outside? Also, it’s pretty chilly outside but then I’ve read that Water can get into the rapper in water log the turkey. Obviously it’s a clean trash bag but then I’m reading that I should have put the wrapped turkey in the trash bag and then submerged that into the bucket of water etc. I don’t know anymore.

I read people's comments here and they are totally wrong about Turkey being dry cooking from frozen. In fact cooking from frozen preserves the breast from drying out, because it creates a low and slow cook on the meat !

@djaVisionProductions Hard to tell. Our little bird took about 15 minutes per pound, total. I'd just try to get a thermometer in the bird as soon as you can and then go by temperature. Remember, 150F in the coolest part of the breast is my number. Some people tell you to go to 165 and if you're more comfortable with that, you can. You can also thaw your bird in the sink. Use cold water only and change the water every half hour. Should take about a day. Do not unwrap. Happy Thanksgiving!

I had a turkey once where the giblets were wrapped in plastic! How do you know if there is plastic inside or not, because you don’t want to be cooking it for 2 hrs. with plastic marinating inside, right!?

ok so I tried your method....and with a even smaller turkey than yours. ( mine is 13.3lb) and here i am on the 6th hour trying to get this bird up to 165. I am never doing this again. how in the world did you roast yours for only 3 and a half hours??

I have a question I have a frozen turkey that is 21lb I just put it in the refrigerator and I will be cooking it in about 33 hours, will that effect anything, do if still follow the steps for a frozen turkey or do something else? I know it takes 50% longer to cook frozen but how long should it take for a 1/2 frozen? Thank you

Nice start with the bakers sheet. Still the wrong rack though. Carol, there's not going to be gallons of juice leaving the turkey as it roasts.

That's right! Refrigerated bacteria and room temp. bacteria are both the same- It's still BACTERIA that is going to get killed in the OVEN! A LOT of stupid advice and methods and tools have surfaced over time and they simply need to be blown out of the tub! USELESS!

@@a.barnard3205 It's not the bacteria that make you sick, it's the toxins the bacteria leave behind. These are not destroyed by cooking to 165.

You spent 6 hours to make it while you can put it in a microwave for 15 minutes and defrost it completely and save about 3 hours and save some dignity
@FoodslingerTV
@FoodslingerTV 7 жыл бұрын
This might work for a small chicken, but a 16 lb bird a) won't fit into most microwaves, especially if those that have a turntable, b) would take well over an hour (actually 78 minutes in our biggest, most powerful model, 1200 watts), and c) would defrost unevenly, with some parts cooked and other parts still frozen. Microwaved meat is nasty, and this is just a horrible idea. Why not just shove it into the oven and leave it alone while you do something else?

FoodslingerTV I'm sure there is a better way to cook a frozen turkey even if it takes more time, but cook it from frozen is gonna result with a rock solid dry turkey, You took a bite in the end of the vedio and it was so clear that it was dry

I didn't see ONE drop of juice issue forth from that white meat. And even while resting on the counter, it's still a fight between hot and cold and uneven one at that. And Oosee, this BS about a 15 minute Turkey Thaw in a microwave? Go take some cooking classes or something.
