How To ROAST BREADFRUIT IN THE OVEN

So this is actually a no brainier for those who are from this island. But for anyone who has never eaten or seen a breadfruit before, this is how Jamaicans do it.
If you are home in the island or if you have the means, this is normally roasted over open fire but if you don't have such access then the oven roasted method is a bit less intimidated. Take a look and give up a thumbs up if you like the end results!!

It's amazing to me that the people who make this never tell us what it taste like! just in case we want to try some, I heard people talk about "Jack fruit" the green in a can or the ripe that taste close to juicy fruit gum and because they told us how it taste i bought some green in the can and fresh fully ripe and it was good too! I still buy Jack fruit too, This bread fruit must have very little favor to it, unless you add something to it. And that's why it's called "bread fruit"

Breadfruit is a fruit that is somewhat like a tuber but with a more doughy texture. Their is little flavor and is boiled or roasted and even fried after roasting. It's a great accompaniment to most Jamaican meals.

@@larrygilliam8268 most Jamaican food came out of essential living. We made use of what was available from the land. Breadfruit was a substitute for bread back in the slavery days. It brings me back to my youth because my mom made it work when nothing else was available. It's healthier than bread too.

Thanks for watching my videos. We used just a little all purpose seasonings like Mrs. Dash or Trader Joe's 21 season salute to flavor the cabbage and celery. You can stir fry kale and cabbage or any seasonal greens

Traditional answers says to let steam escape from the Breadfruit while it's roasting. Don't know how effective that is though

How long should you bake it @400 for 1-2hr?? I never did it before and I would love to try it.

You have to check for doneness after the first 45 mins. When a knife is inserted in the center and comes out with ease then it's finished. That time can vary between fruit so it's best to check as you go along
