I have had a very difficult time sourcing the Comfortboard 80 in the Northwest. Still no luck

contact Adam Akre at Pacific Building Center in Blaine, WA. He has access to the 2' x 4' pieces (6 to a pack) at least

I ended up just using Powerwool sourced from Service Partners. Basically the same product although more expensive. Lead time was the determining factor for me. Had powerwool delivered next day. Will keep lead times in mind for next project

A vent screen such as Coravent for air circulation was excluded from this How To. Installed below and above the furring strips at the top and bottom.

They showed and said bug screen which best practice should be metal.

Unless the screening is rigid as well, this method will leave a space for pests to access in the flexible area between the strapping where the screen meets the siding?

They covered this at about 3 min in

Can you use 3/4” ply board instead?

Why don’t you want to put house wrap over the rockwool?
@yotube1234543217 ай бұрын
house wrap would be difficult to install over rockwool since you can't staple into the rockwool or use any of the self-adhered house wraps to stick it to the rockwool. Additionally, sandwiching the house wrap between the plywood and the rockwool protects the housewrap from the elements more which is important since that's providing your air and water barrier. The rockwool doesn't mind getting wet so it's fine that it's not protected by the house wrap.

No one talks about this, but if you have a siding which is a poor heat conductor shading your true wall, not in contact with the exterior wall, especially if it is vented allowing for air flow behind it [heat dissipation], and out the top, you’ve given your house a parasol. Someone tell Matt Risinger we have a new catch word, please. This parasol will block incoming radiant energy. This isn’t an equilibrium R value, it’s reducing the intensity of the incoming heat source, the sun, that’s beaming down on your building. I’d like to see a heat transfer engineer look at some of these things and make a few back of the envelope calculations.

@@DitDitDitDahDahDahDitDitDit I often wonder about the chimney effect if there was a fire near the side of the house and the Flames being sucked up into that space rainscreen X

in my opinion glass wool is a lot better to work with

If I'm planning on using Hardiboard 4x8 foot sheets, do I still use this same method, with the 1x4" boards, then nail the Hardiboard into the 1x4's?
