I think I'm just gonna take my fender roller and heat gun to the junkyard and practice on a cpl cars before I attempt my own.

I wish I had one of these in the '70s. I used a baseball bat, didn't heat the paint and chipped the paint it a little.

Nice and concise! Reminder if you’re an idiot like me, don’t roll over the plastic bits and bobs, they don’t flex so good…lol

Any suggestions on preventing rust in the future? Other than not driving it in the rain😂 Undercoat before rolling?
@DriveItRyan3 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about on the inside of the lip? I bet a little POR or some type of undercoating would be a good idea for just a little added protection and peace of mind. Rust is the absolute devil

Now I never heard you say this is okay to do with Wraps. Can I still do this with a wrapped car or do I need to do more steps?

Yeah.. ill pass on doing it myself 🤣 if i ever needed it i know a guy thats done thousands. But its good knowledge to show peoples! 🙌

I’m willing to bet that guy knows what he’s doing after thousands!! When I was younger I couldn’t find anyone to do it in my area, so I figured I might as well take a stab at it. It certainly is time consuming though 😂

Umm still doing fender rolling? I’m in CT
@does_not_matter_913 жыл бұрын
I did mine too fast. Got some cracks on the front, and bent edge. I had to give the car to body shop, and they cut the lip in many places, made it flat and welded, than filled and protected so the water wouldn't stay there. But i didn't keep the heat that much, and that's probably where i screwed the job :D
@DriveItRyan3 жыл бұрын
Yeah a lot of people cut a little slit first, but I try to avoid it if possible. Keeping an eye on the heat and going little by little is definitely the key, but by the 4th fender, it does get very tedious lol. Sry about your experience! Sounds like it’s all good now though at least!

what if i dont' care about cracking the paint job, do i still need to heat the fender with a heat gun?

No. It doesn't make the metal softer, just the paint.

Can this tool be used on a car that has wire wheels and no studs ?
@DriveItRyan2 жыл бұрын
I’m not entirely sure. It should work as long as you find a way to secure it to the hub.
@travisstamp7428 Жыл бұрын
Just take off the adapters for the wire wheels and use the studs that the adapters bolt to.
