My BJJ instructor uses rolls as a warm up and never take any time to explain it to new members... So, as a brand new white belt, THANK YOU so much for this drill !!

Is it normal for your right shoulder to be sore afterwards. How do we not injure our shoulders

Yes, it is normal, especially if there is some impact. I would suggest focusin on smooth rocking before attempting to roll, and then focusing on a smooth transition to the ground. Hope this helps!

Maybe try getting a thicker mat, or it should pass with time as your body gets used to it.

A lost cause for me. My vertigo and dizziness issues killed my career in grappling. Pity. If taken to the ground I’m toast.
