Tremendous tutorial! Donny your videos are absolute terrific: you properly explain how techniques were invented, why you should learn them and in which situation they are being used. In giving detailed description and great footage from different angles of how it is done, you make it easy for everyone to learn. Specially in showing different drills, players can really practice the course of movement in game like stations. Keep it up coach, you make fantastic videos!

@janmarcmallari65127 жыл бұрын
jeff kirk Good inquiry, let me also know the answer then.
@Cyndercake7 жыл бұрын
I guess you can say that rolling will allow yourself to get back on your feet quicker than lateral diving. But really, it's all about preference depending on which you are more comfortable with.

@mackenziebarr13205 жыл бұрын
Also due to the motion of diving laterally it’s you’re more likely to hit it off to the side in the direction you move. As opposed to a roll, where you stay behind the ball for the duration of your contact, meaning that the ball is propelled back towards the net, or at least in that general direction.

i know another way to roll that puts you directly onto your feet afterwards. you roll backwards instead of sideways, then when you finish the roll, you’ll be already on you feet, no need to have another standing up motion it’s really cool and fluent, doesn’t hurt at all. It’s for both pancakes and digs… I tried to roll as demonstrated here during my training and other people were all shouting about how my rolling was wrong 🙁

@timeflies5707 жыл бұрын
Saber Toob Be attentive and do what you can reasonably do. Don't show off and do a jump serve if you're not good at it. Consistency is more important than flashy plays. It's also important to communicate during tryouts. Be vocal, call every ball you're going to get, yell free balls, call ins and outs during serve receives, etc. Good luck!
@SaberToob7 жыл бұрын
Teal Blaze Thank you, I'll definitely keep that in mind
@janmarcmallari65127 жыл бұрын
Saber Toob If you're spiker, then hit it with power. Then if you're libero or any kind of position, I think you practice the PANCAKE👌 Also you MUST HAVE A CONTROLL(GOOD) PASSING

Coach Donny, on a completely unrelated note to a rolling dive, could you make a video on how a setter could throw off a block? Like certain plays like running a D or A ball instead of a normal 4, 1, 2, or 5? It would help immensely, I'm looking for ways to help my team attack. Also could you go over when to run those attacks? attacks like slides and D balls, A balls, and pipes? Would be super helpful thanks!
@30andbald7 жыл бұрын
& maybe how to feint a block to make them slower on the block? I've tried things like looking back then going outside rather than right side and vise versa but it doesn't seem to work. I know that there has to be a way to confuse a block, I see it done by high level setters all the time. If you would like to take the time and share your knowledge on this subject, I'd be very pleased. Thank you coach!

Hi Coach Donny, could you please make a video on dive receiving a ball that you are trying to hit back onto the court? For example like when it is hit off the block and goes flying over your head, and you have to turn around and pass it back the other direction over your head? I have tried using the form for a normal dive when passing a ball to the setter when I am facing him, but it is totally different when the setter is behind you. Thanks!
