Thanks. I've been a post production Protools user since version 2.5 and have completely avoided virtual instruments until now. Leaning MIDI from scratch is sending me crazy, but help like yours reduces the frustration a lot so thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Thanks you ver much for your kind words 🙏🏼 MIDI in Pro Tools may not be the easiest to program or to route but hopefully with this channel I will be able to shed some light on it. Stay tuned for more content! Ciao!

Thanks so much for the video! Till now, I've used instrument track for Kontakt, not with good results. After I watched your tutorial, I use the aux. for Kontakt. It works better for me. Why is that so? Thanks again!
@AudioKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
If you have used my method It works better probably because your computer has do to less processing and you get the best out of Kontact samples

Just wanted to let you know that Native Instruments' own tech support department sent me this video when I had a similar question. Keep up the good work! By the way, would it be relatively efficient on your CPU to create the audio tracks at the same time as the MIDI and monitor your instruments through them? I'd like to save a similar setup as a Pro Tools template, and being able to create the audio tracks and set up the routing ahead of time would help a lot. Thanks for all you do!

@@gelchert ha! Thanks for the heads up about NI! 😂 glad this video is serving their purpose. Haha Many thanks for your kind words. So to answer your question: yes you could, as long as all the audio tracks are set to INPUT MONITORING. ;-)

Thank you for this very informative video. After watching, I went into my home studio and created a template using 1 Aux. track and 10 Midi tracks in Kontakt, Pro tools Mac. Can I use an instrument track instead of an Aux. track, and still save CPU? And/or what is the difference?

Thanks for this helpful video! I'm on ProTools 2021, and I tried these exact steps using an Instrument track instead of an Aux and it worked perfectly... Is there a benefit of using an Aux over an Instrument track that I'm misunderstanding?

Sorry for the late question. I use Studio One and Reaper. I have bought Pro Tools because I need to learn it for my degree in Audio Production. Could you tell me how to go about connecting my native instruments to Pro Tools please? In Studio One there is an option called instrument library where you tell the DAW where to find the sounds. I'm sure there's something like that in Pro Tools.
@AudioKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
I would assume is the same process. Although I don’t and never used studio one so I don’t quite know how to guide you specifically.

Ciao!
@AudioKnowHow Жыл бұрын
Ciao! Sei connesso al tuo computer via MIDI o USB? In altre parole il Nord lo utilizzi come midi controller oppure utilizzi i suoni?

Hi Matteo, I am using a MOTU M4, and not seeing an option to output to separate audio tracks other than Stereo 1/2. Kontakt creates the Stereo 2, then found Aux tracks. In ProTools I added two instruments, a piano MIDI 1 and a Pad MIDI 2. The notes come into the MIDI channels as expected, Piano on MIDI 1 and Pad on MIDI 2. However, I am unable to route anything from the MIDI to Stereo Audio tracks. I am wondering if it is because I am using a Mac M1 which is Apple Silicone. Any suggestions?
@Quazelle2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary I was having this issue as well. The fix is to create more stereo tracks in the "Outputs" section of Kontakt (I created an additional 12 for good measure) and be sure to select "Make This Your Default Configuration" before confirming. Then restart ProTools. You'll now be able to select more than ST2 as an input.
