We finish off the Jeep Badge of Honor trails in the Ouray, Colorado area - testing out the hemi off road on higher elevation trails! But we also take a quick moment to swing by Poughkeepsie Gulch and explain how a few people managed to ruin the trail for everyone.
Hope you all enjoy the video!

Thankfully here in Alberta we dont have groomed trails. Most trails I've been on were blazed by ATVs so its legal here as long as people dont start blazing trails through wildland protected areas which are mapped out.

Glad you were able to make it to Ouray this year of all years. The wife and I have spent a week there in August for the last 12 years now and this year was absolutely the most scenic of them all. The heavy snow this past winter unfortunately left many avalanche damage areas but the waterfalls were spectacular this year as well as more drifts this year still remaining. When the wife and I were there a couple of weeks ago it was quite warm, being mid to upper 80’s, but so beautiful. Poughkeepsie Gulch and Black Bear we’re both closed the week we were there but we still had a great time exploring all the remaining trails and areas. Mike

After watching these videos, we ordered "Fun Treks" Colorado addition for up coming trip the end of this month! In Death Valley NP some jerk did donuts in the smooth silty-sand plateau at the "Racetrack" which has been fenced off for years for good reason. Took my stock 21 Gladiator Rubicon (manual) through the Alpine Loop, which included Engineer and Poughkeepsie. The Loop was my first REAL off-road trail. I'm glad I had an experienced 4wheeler with me, cause my Jeep may have been fully capable but I certainly wasn't experienced to traverse the trails like that. I would love to see Kev and Brit do "The Wall" on Poughkeepsie. I drove up to it and decided I'd rather have daily driver after, so I turned around lol. Though I'm sure they'd just make it look like a flat road.

First... THANK YOU so much for the educational on Poughkeepsie Gulch. That is something we need to be doing more of. We at the United Four Wheel Drive Associations and Colorado Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs try to educate, but there is only so much we are able to do too. Next... technically speaking, the road from Hwy 550 to the bottom of the south end of Engineer Pass is the Mineral Creek Road. The signage is somewhat deceiving as it is meant to indicate this is the "way to" Engineer Pass. Coming back down Engineer, I would have recommended you go down through Animas Forks... the ghost town. Several of the buildings are still intact and very interesting. Then you could have gone up California Pass, over Hurricane Pass, and down Corkscrew to Hwy 550. Corkscrew takes you down the middle of the Red Mountains you saw from the top of Imogene Pass. You missed some spectacular scenery and the upper end of Poughkeepsie Gulch.

I love Jeeps and how in the majority of the times jeepers don't have any problem to talk in the right way about Toyota. When you talk with Toyota's owners, the majority of them criticise and hate Jeeps and Jeepers. Respect to the first 4x4 in the history of the car. Thanks guys for another great video and for sharing.

PUBLIC LAND FOR PUBLIC USE! If ya'll are relying on the good graces of the Government to protect the trails - just remember what the Government did for the Native Americans. Our politicians cater to the wealthy; like Sierra Club supporters. If this generation of middle class weekend warriors want to keep enjoying OUR land; sure - respect it, but you are going to have to fight to keep it.

I agree, not cutting locks, staying the trail is the way to go but how is that stopping the forest service from fixing the trail? Shouldn't that make the fix more time sensitive?
