Guys, love what you do! I have an old boy scout tip: when you set your tent up with a tarp under it, tuck the extra tarp under the tent so when it rains it won't collect water and flow under your tent. Trust me, camping in upstate NY for years where it ALWAYS rains when you camp, it's key to staying dry. Good luck and thanks for the videos. Keep on Jeeping!

We bought a (T@B 320s) teardrop trailer to pull behind our JK after using a rooftop tent for 2 years. It fits in the garage, is only 2000 pounds, provides additional storage and puts a roof over our head. You should check the out. Love ours ❤️. BTW, we stayed at that KOA last year when Jeeping in Ouray. Great place. Be sure to explore downtown Ouray.

Exciting trip! Couple of suggestions after many nights in tents and learning hard way. Staying warm and dry is main goal. Looks like you have warm down fairly well. Staying dry - you will have overnight storms at some point with wind. Your tent rain fly needs to cover entire tent and come down sides completely. That one you have will do nothing. Rain fly is what will keep you dry and protected. Always stake down and if storms expected also use stabilizer cords. Can always sleep in jeep if too bad but good tent will keep your stuff dry. Looking forward to your trip videos!

The whole top itself weighs about 250lbs. That's spread out weight though, not just a 200lb brick way up high. There is a bit of a back order though those tops are super quality. That way they could ditch that heavy bully tent and keep their bedding up top, and pop it anywhere.

My kids and I made a camper out of a Cargo Mate trailer. I towed it behind a Mercedes CLK550 at the time :). They are durable, very lockable, I ran a camper / RV plug to it with power and some cabinets inside. You could put solar panels on top for off grid use power. Ours was 12’ but they have sorted versions. You might get tired of the Walmart blow up bed as we did and ended up using cots but that makes “close time” tougher. RVWorld.com has a bunch of great products like the portable commode :). Best part about the trailer is that your set up as soon as you get there. Your food is in the cabinet, clothes in the “closet”, bed set up, just run power and your set up as soon as you pull up.

Y'all need an all-aluminum 14 foot enclosed V-front trailer, so you can keep all your stuff in it along with your Polaris, and when you camp just back the Polaris out and set your bed up. That way your Jeep is always empty and you can lock up all your things when trail riding.
@jaxxskeliton
@jaxxskeliton 4 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't that put them over the jeeps tow capacity? I know the 14 foot aluminum trailers are about 2000 lbs if I'm correct, plus the rzr and their gear would be well over 3500 lbs.

@@jaxxskeliton, Some 4-door models are able to tow up to 3,500 pounds. But with the HEMI engine/trans and axle upgrades, I'd bet it's safe to tow at least 7k. And capable of pulling a lot more than that.
@jaxxskeliton
@jaxxskeliton 4 жыл бұрын
@@calvinh.8882 Yeah I was just thinking about that. My only worry for them is if they got in a car wreck, normally the insurance company won't pay for the damage if you are over the tow limit that's stated on the vehicle. I have no doubt that the hemi and transmission could pull it and more.
@calvinh.8882
@calvinh.8882 4 жыл бұрын
@@jaxxskeliton, Their Jeeps towing cap' is rated so low because of the engine and trans' it came with. The RAM with the 5.7L engine weighs the same as their Jeep but has a towing capacity of over 10k pounds, and some are even higher. And 99.9% of the time as long as you're not towing something massive, that's like clearly way too large of a load, then nothing is ever said if you happen to get in an accident. But in the case something is said, all you have to do is prove you have upgraded your vehicle so it can handle towing more than what was stated from the factory.
@jaxxskeliton
@jaxxskeliton 4 жыл бұрын
@@calvinh.8882 It must be different in other states, I know where I'm at, most of the time the insurance companies don't care if you upgraded everything to pull more, they still go by what's stated on the vehicle. But I appreciate the input.

MoneyPit Jku _ I’m in the early stage of trying to figure out what will work best for me. I’m considering the military trailer as an option because of its durability. Still have things to figure out before I pull the trigger. Sounds like our minds are going in the same direction. Be creative and able to adapt. Good luck.

WOW! Brittany. I've been a car guy and mechanic for 45 years, I binge watched Hyperdrive. You did great, you should be very proud of yourself. Great job spotting Kevin. That show even had me in tears a couple times. Good job guys. Following C.O.R.E. thank you. Be safe on your new adventure.

Have fun in Ouray! My wife and I drove our Jeep from Texas last year and had a blast doing most of the trails around there. Black Bear and Poughkeepsie were definitely our favorites. The Stepchild should make short work of “The Wall”. 👍🏻

@@LiteBrite That's quite unfortunate. The show itself was much better than another similar-ish Netflix original, Fastest Car. Also, it was a lot more jazzy than the other show which essentially had to have an air strip booked for the duration. Hopefully, the next season they have some budget leftover from the set to at least cover the travelling expenses.

Why is the government trying to close down those trails in Colorado?
@Fix_It_Again_Tony
@Fix_It_Again_Tony 4 жыл бұрын
www.keeptrailsopen.com/news Seems like some of the land changed hands after a fire and now one of the new controlling entities is dragging their feet. They probably don't realize why it is important to some people that the trails remain open. Some could view offroaders as poor stewards of the land. There is also constant strife in areas like Moab. It's a constant fight between BLM and people who want to use the land for their own purposes or have the land protected. It's all public land and just because some use the trails for offroading doesn't mean others wont try to use the land for their benefit. The most important thing is for people who use these trails to speak up and maintain pressure on elected officials. In a country of 300 million there are going to be competing interests. The politicians just need to be made aware of the benefit these trails have to their constituents. That can be people who use the trails, or local businesses which benefit from the use of the trails (tourism, automotive aftermarket/service, etc.) CORE is organizing in order to increase the level of public activism and comments in support of keeping the trails open. Offroad enthusiasts in Colorado are lucky to have a group like them.

Kevin is more than a little ADD, so has a tendency to sometimes get sidetracked and off topic. If I didn’t occasionally interrupt or cut accordingly, the videos would be several times longer than they are. Lol @John Greene I’ve never met you, so that would be a pretty poor assumption. And you know what they say about assuming. 😉
