I always have one guy who is bored with trolling so I put on a free slider attached to a separate pole and have him work the slider up and down triggering strikes . He’ always surprised when he hooks up!

I always put a small clear plastic bead right above the swivel on the rigger rod to prevent the swivels from coming together and possibly prying one open.

Years ago while using Cannon DR's with the two rear mounted rod holders, I was stacking with 2 separate rods on each rigger. Had 4 guys in my 21' boat and wanted 12 rods in use. This worked well all day until all of a sudden the most horrific noise of cracking, breaking followed by a splash. The rod holders built into the rear of the plastic Cannon riggers broke off the body of the rigger! and both rods went into the water. I spun the boat around quickly, ran back and dropped the rigger ball to within 5' from bottom and ran over where I thought the lines were. I snagged both rods by reeling up the rigger and retrieved all my gear. Had an absolute career ending tangle....but I got them back. Ever since that, I don't put that amount of strain on those cannon riggers and I now Use the set depth, snap release method. Great informational video.

Thanks, Jim! At least I assume, according to Chris, that you should get the credit!!! Great job showing and explaining how to set it up!👍👍

I've been stacking two rods on Cannon DR'S for sometime with no issues. I like your method though getting more bait in the water and keeping rod counts legal ! Thanks for sharing your techniques!

My grandfather loves stack lines, he likes to run duplicate spoons 5 ft apart to replicate fish splitting from a school. To me it has it's time and place.(mostly when fishing the harbor, where I can't run long lines do to boat traffic)
@lloydeduncan38614 жыл бұрын
I do still stack it allows you to run your high line a lot further back away from the boat
@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
Lloyde Duncan that is a good point. With a stacked rod you can also leave a spoon in the water while you fight a fish on the other rod. There’s a couple benefits to stacking. 👍🏻

Yes please do a video on how to stack multiple lines on a side rigger.

Just uploaded the stacking video. 💪🏻

I think stacking DR is a better option. More accurate depth and less change of tangles. IMO

Pros and cons to both for sure.

Curious on the dw fixed slider with the rubberized coating. I can only imagine that rubber coating getting burned through the mainline when a 20 lb king is pulling on the slider line. Seems like itd be very hard on ur mainline and ruin the rubber on that swivel.
@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
The line releases from the rubber on the action stacker so the is zero friction. Works great!

In maine , only one lure or baited hook per line

You definitely have to watch your state’s regulations. Like you mentioned this don’t work everywhere. Legal in our state of Michigan though.

Seems like if you get hit on the slider it will slide down to the bottom spoon when reeling in a fighting fish and tangling with the bottom spoon hook fraying line and breaking fish off. And issues with this?
@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
Brad Shelton none. It’s a good practice to check your leaders before redeploying no matter what line it is though.

My sliders keep tangling to the main line while trolling, any suggestions?
@tangledtacklefishing Жыл бұрын
Make sure you’re using quality ball bearing swivels.
@timh82574 жыл бұрын
How do you stop the tangles? Everytime I bring up the rig, It seems like it is twisted around the main line. More hassle than it is worth.
@flickboogers42444 жыл бұрын
When your bringing you ball up stop at 15'. Reel up the slack. Then continue bringing ball up till just under the surface. Remove your stacker and then pop your line out of rigger release. This avoids twist. (I always run fixed sliders with rubber band method).
@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
Tim H be sure to use ball bearing swivels on both ends as well.
@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
One other thing I’ve seen that causes tangles is the hooks get caught on the line when the bait is put into the water. If you don’t catch it and fish for a while it will absolutely twist up your line. Make sure it’s swimming correctly once you put it in the water. Chris

So I guess you really can’t use a free slider on an SWR rig as it wouldn’t slide over the lead core section very well, may even hurt the lead core section?
@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
Christopher Rauscher if you’re clipping the DR ball to the backing and not the lead core you’d probably be ok. The snap sliding down the core when a fish hit would have minimal friction.

Do you run sliders above flasher/fly, or meat rigs?

Bob Hunter no. Too much opportunity to twist the lines together with rotators.

How and what do I tie to the main line,( leader) and lure?

Hector Heredia palomar know are both ends, leader is mono or fluorocarbon (your choice), and we’ll run a spoon on the slider.
