Where are the fish Salmon and rainbow for depth in late september october ?? I have no experience downrigging in late season only early spring to midsummer salmon slammin . Thanks for all your videos on the setups you use is so super helpful to me . keep them coming please . I know there is a big difference in spring to summer fishing but no idea about end of season before the water freezes up .

Pat Matthews you want to keep tension on the diver for two reasons. 1. Wire line needs tension to prevent bird nesting and loose wire which the top layer will then bite into. 2. It prevents the diver from free falling and not moving into position like you expect. - Jim

@tangledtacklefishing4 жыл бұрын
They may not seem to be traveling far due to currents below the boat. Try to see which way everything is pulling and try to adjust your troll if possible. It's also somewhat of an illusion. They may not look like they are moving away from the boat but most of the line is underwater and can't be seen which may make it look like it's not traveling out and away from the boat.

Hi, enjoying the vids. A captain was trying to explain to me how to use a standard dipsy as a slide diver by passing your line through the diver connection point instead of clipping your swivel to it.... after that he lost me. He said he uses what I assume to be a planner board release to stop the diver from sliding down until the fish bites. I did not follow the rest of his explaination as to how he connects to the release...Are you familiar with this? He said after someone showed him he stopped using regular sliders so he could cut down on extra gear/clutter. Lemme know what you think. "Thanks as always"!!

So your high diver was at 110ft and set at 3. Do you have an idea of about far off the centerline of the boat that might be running? Best guess?
@jegorah1 Жыл бұрын
I've watched both this video and your long lines video. I still don't understand how your high divers don't tangle with your 10-core long lines. Based on a #3 setting of your 107mm high diver, with 100 feet of line out, that would run about 52 feet deep. Your 10 core is also 50 feet deep. They are the same depth. The long line is out 333 feet, though... is that what keeps them from tangling?
@tangledtacklefishing Жыл бұрын
You have to remember the lead core and coppers are on planer boards out away from the boat. The length of the lead core and copper also help prevent tangles. Also a 107mm diver set on three with 100 feet of line out would be closer to a 35 foot depth, but I get what you're saying.

Being new to this, what is meant by high and low divers? I am guessing it's where they are at in the water. But are they 2 different size divers?
@thebrushhawg3 жыл бұрын
Low is closer to the boat and deep while the high is farther from the boat and shallower. To avoid getting fish tangled in other lines while you bring them in you set your lines in order from the side of the boat outward. If you could look from behind the boat at the bait they would be in a V shape. Deepest under the boat, shallowest farthest out. You also stagger distance back as viewed from above outer lines are farther back. It mostly keeps lines clear of tangles while catching fish. At least smaller fish. Lol
