Any tips on how to exterminate them if you can't see the nest? I have been renovating my front porch and have exposed the rest of my house to the attic. Now I have them flying down at me whenever I try and use a Sawzall, etc, keeping me from getting anything done.

I suggest spraying at night if possible or early morning when it is cool. The warmer it is, the more active and nervous wasps get.

I’ve got some metric paper wasps hanging out in my workshop. How can I tell if they’re looking to make a nest or what can I do to just make them go away? They like hanging out in hard to reach high areas

One of these crawled up in between my deck planks and got me underneath one of my toes (the soft part that attached to the actual foot). Unbelievably painful. Foot swollen for days. That was my second sting in two weeks after not being stung for 40 years. What do you call the black wasp that has an almost iridescent bluish/purple hue to it? When it walks around , it flicks its wings nervously every second or two. It is very aggressive. I live in South Carolina.

QUESTION: ****Can I just spray the nest while the paper wasp is gone so she can die of the residual spray, and that way I don't have to invest in a bee suit and encounter it face to face? I'm a chicken. Also, I'm in SC. Should I wait for cooler weather? ****There's only one wasp there, and she leaves for most of the day. I already had discovered a previous small nest she was building behind a wood sign I had on my porch, sprayed it with Ortho Defense bug spray while she was gone, also dish detergent/water mix (didn't have wasp spray back then), and eventually threw away the sign/nest in a sealed bag. That bug spray didn't affect her, and now she's building a nest in the eaves, to the left and above my front door. It's got about 12 spaces so far. I've got Raid Wasp & Hornet spray now, so hopefully, it will do a better job. By the way, the nest is directly across from a "fake" paper nest I bought on Amazon that was supposed to deter wasps! So much for that.

Have Paper Wasps I believe nest is like a balloon thin paper material.how do I prevent them from rebuilding nests this is second nest in one month

If it is a balloon shape, those are bald faced hornets. Once the colony is killed, the nest can be left. An existing nest, even empty, will prevent other hornets from building a nest in the vicinity as they are territorial. You can also buy fake nests to hang up for the same reason.

This is the most common wasp I encounter. They have the most painful sting I’ve ever felt. 3 hours after getting stung it still feels like you got hit with a hammer

Use vinegar on the sting. Works in a couple of minutes.

I work in pest control in the northeast and nothing takes care of wasps faster than CB-80! Dead in seconds. It's especially fun when it's a Bald-faced hornets nest and you can just watch as they fall out of the entrance one by one 👍
