Thank you so much for this video, I was able to reach behind the blower and replace the fuse without removing the drum. Was only able to do it that way, because your video showed me exactly where it was.

Kinda ridiculous you have to take nearly the entire dryer apart just to replace that fuse. They really don't want you repairing this thing.

This video inspired me! Very good - thank you. I diagnosed the problem to be the thermal fuse based on video's but when I got the dryer apart I saw that the belt had snapped. I obviously replaced BOTH. Great sense of accomplishment thanks for making it so easy:) BTW the belt was stock at Lowes (take your old one! serial #'s won't help w/this part - only size). It was not at many of the places the web showed it to be at.

The technician stated, "a thermal fuse is a safety device that SHORTS OUT if it gets over a certain temp." Unless this fuse is different, all good fuses are shorted and open when they go bad.
@James-gg4ld3 жыл бұрын
That is correct! I really wish people who present themselves ad 'experts' would be sure their facts are correct. A fuse, in general, is always shorted so the circuit will operate. Most are familiar with fuses in older homes and breakers in more modern homes that protect an electrical circuit from drawing too much "current" [measured in Amps], they are 'shorted' or have continuity if good or set, and are 'open' or no continuity if bad or tripped. If a device draws too much current, thus presenting a hazard, the fuse or breaker will 'open' cutting the current flow off to protect the device and the surrounding environment. Thermal fuses will 'open' if the "temperature" of the fuse exceeds it rating, say 102°C [216°F]. Thermal fuses are self-destructive, as in if failed they need to be replaced. Determine the cause of the failure before replacing a thermal fuse otherwise it will just 'blow' again. These are safety protection devices that monitor the heat level and therefore need to be located near the source of heat and are intentionally not convenient to replace.

My dryer display is not turning ON, and the display dosen't show anything. I am sure it gets power because the door lamp turns on and I checked and found that the plug and cord are fine. How could I check and see the broken part? Is this due to bad thermal fuse? Thank you.

A line fuse is NOT a thermal fuse. You cannot replace a thermal fuse in the manner you are suggesting.

On some models you may have to take the drum out to access the part. If you don't have to remove the drum to access your part, don't remove it. We are just showing how to remove in case some models require you to remove it, or maybe someone just wants more room to move around when they remove the part.
