Thanks for that, I grew up on 2 wheels and rode desert 60-70-80s. I switched to quads and raced desert for 10 years, retired from racing in 2000. I recently just got back on a dual sport and am having a hard time in the sand. I don't remember sand ever being an issue for me. I guess in my old age I've become more cautious and am getting my ass kicked for slowing down. It's kind of like whoops, there is a "FINE LINE BETWEEN PLEASURE AND PAIN" Once you get to a certain speed it's actually quit smooth over the whoops (Like being ON PLANE in a boat), Like you mentioned about the sand. But slow down and you're done, like the sand. I'll give your technique a try tomorrow. Thanks again.

Thanks! Simple, short, to-the-point instructions. Tip: Do mention XT250 in your video title or description, since many people search by their bike’s model to watch videos related to their model.

Sand riding clicked for me when I seen someone talk about floating. Bear in mind I rode bmx and quads years ago so clutch and angle isnt my issue. One night, it just clicked, maybe it was commitment, or likely a culmination of techniques and ability. I ride a crf300l with 50 lbs of recovery gear on top of me. All stock. Weight preposition and distribution can be meditative man.

Good simple instructions that make sense....My biggest struggle is in deep sand with 4wd ruts, i'm ok in that kind of sand. Cheers

I hear ya. My home Minnesota has many tight rutted sandy trails. It is tougher since maintaining a constant speed isnt frequently an option on twisty trails. I try to use the ruts as a track. Also if the bike wants to take a different track just accept it and coax it back when able. The toughtest thing is less speed means less stability, which you just gotta deal with maintaining balance over the shifting bike.

That looks so fun. There's a ton of, what I call, "surprise" sand on Prince Edward Island. You'll be a on trail and then it just becomes a complete sand dune. I've gotten better myself, but these tips are on point. Thanks so much for the advice.
