Darling, please re consider on taxes. To decline professional service, it means you "leave money on the table". It is far too expensive to consider doing this. For example, did you get the Saver's Credit in 2023? Ask the nice lady what the dollars are? Is your business a hobby or actual business? If it is an actual business, can you use Form 8829? Oh, you can? Does it help you by reducing tax? Believe me, over time, you can improve but not by someone trading for cuts and color.

Mental illness and "disabilities" like the autism spectrum made it so that I was in such day to day/week to week survival mode, that to put the brain power towards these great ideas was INCREDIBLY stressful and overwhelming. But I finally, at age 50 (with a degree in chemistry) have a decent paying job ($20.80, that's good, right?) and things are a bit easier. So I DID cut out the subscriptions. I'm actually going to swap my 2009 4x4 Nissan pathfinder (it was my dream vehicle) that I had in Arizona because driving off into the middle of the desert was my thing!!♡♡♡ idk know how, yet but I'll figure it out... anyway, swap it out for a fuel efficient sedan. Hey, all my dreams have died, so why not this one too?? lmfao. I paid $7000 cash with a life insurance policy I suddenly got... I had to gtfo of Arizona in 2022 and am now in Missouri- Kansas city, and my dream of driving down awe-inspiring dirt roads is gone. I'm actually pissed! Can you believe, Nicole... that In Missouri, i accomplished (by myself) in about 5 months what I could never do in 10 yrs in Arizona?! Wtf? And I only have about 30 more years to be alive. It'd be nice to have done something instead of just surviving.

The breaking it down into small numbers is great. It makes it seem possible rather than big numbers that seem so unreachable. I am sort of becoming obsessed with these videos to help me keep this modest spending going. Between these videos and the Ramsey show, I am realizing I don't need what I want most of the time. I am loving going to a store to buy something and only leave with that something, this is hard for me at a grocery store but I managed that yesterday. I always find myself wandering around and then buying stuff I didn't plan on buying and don't actually need.

It is the little changes that become routine habits that matter. I regularly pay in cash and empty my purse each week of coins and save them up - this makes a couple of pounds a month! I liked your point that if you have treats all the time, then they cease to be treats. I like real tea (not tea bags) and coffee (not instant) , for example that I make at home. Recently, due to being mega busy, I ran out. Felt very deprived for three days - yet it had got to the point where I didn't realise how delicious it was. Rather than order it and wait a day or two for delivery I actually drove the shop (in another town) to buy some more!

Switched to 360mbps, and was able to add TV for my Dad, we have free over air that often lost signals, and I'm actually paying less per month. Happy I finally did it. I'm going to take the difference and just deposit it monthly to my TFSA acct and get that baby growing even more every month. Your Amazon Prime tip resonated with me, but not for the reasons you might think. I live in Australia and work for the Post Office. You’d be amazed how many people say this when they collect their parcels, “I can’t even remember what I bought!”

Wow I live in Europe and it is crazy for me to think that people pay for Amazon Prime if you can have free delivery anyway. In my country we have a different marketplace like Amazon and you have to pay like 10 USD a YEAR to get free delivery but for orders above around 10 USD. Also, you can invite around 8 or 10 people to that so they can have free delivery over 10 USD to and still I know more people who don't have it because they don't need it than people that are. I thought Amazon Prime is something similar. 50 dollars a month? what a waste of money!

What could help here is reflecting on if your budget for this cathegory is actually realistic. Could you shuffle around in you budget and take money from places you don't care much for (like buying alcohol or even certain more expensive food items like meat)? Some hobbies cost more money and that's fine, but make sure you actually create a budget that works. Constantly blowing it just sounds like you were unrealistic with the budget in the first place. What I do is take my savings aways as soon as the money comes in (it's not 500 a month, I don't have that high of an income, but it's a decent enough chunk of change). Then I subtract my bills and other things I need. The rest I spend for fun money. Before I buy I always check if I actually have the money to pay for it without it feeling like my bank account is too empty (which happened recently and it doesn't feel nice, but at least I had money saved in case I would've needed it for stuff like food). It's a simple trick: always check your bank account before you go and buy something (either online or in a store) so you know what's in your account and the max you want to spend on the trip with the idea that you can come back if you really want someting. The whole tip of: while shopping, if you're in doubt about buying something you should wait at least several hours and if you're still thinking about the item you can go back and buy it. It saves you from spending money in the first place. I hope this was clear enough and that you don't me reacting on your comment 4 months later.
@laurab95182 жыл бұрын
I do that. How? I have two bank Accts from two different financial institutions. As soon as I get paid I go to one bank and withdraw a large Amount of paycheck (leaving some for everyday bills). Then I go to the other bank and deposit it into a savings I never touch. This way I have less cash on me for, and more savings for real needs and cannot buy much. And doing this, I am about to become debt free after being over 20k in debt

I understand your point but I find the idea of saving $17 a day a bit weird, because people don't usually get paid daily or have a daily budget. Normal budgets are weekly, bi-weekly and monthly imo.
