Welcome back, Craig. This was well explained and also the bit about cable tie positioning was helpful too. Thanks Silverline.

As a lagger I would use armalex/armacell closed cell tubing and glue all the seems, and joins. Maybe some foil tape for a vapour barrier. Nice 45 but you could do it quicker with an insulation knife and plenty of experience.

Thanks for the pro tip!

Nice Video. The only thing I would do differently is use a different color zip Tie for hot and cold. Blue for Cold Red for Hot if both are being insulated.

My boiler is in my garage and the pipe insulation is pooly fitted, so I'm going to redo it all. Would you recommend either gluing or taping insulation joints, if so what products would you use?

Cold doesn't penetrate. Heat does. Pipes near a wall with low thermal resistance can lose heat out the wall.

What do we call these kind of covers?

The foam is called pipe insulation or lagging

should you lag both hot and cold pipes or just hot pipes?
@SilverlineToolsTV Жыл бұрын
It's a good idea to lag both hot and cold pipes for increased energy efficiency and to reduce the risk of freezing

doesnt hot water pipes get too hot for insulation?

Don’t see the value since the wraps I have been looking at are r-2 or R-3 rated

I would leave some excess after tightening the cable tie. This will enable you to undue and reuse them. You can undue them by using the tip of a knife, flathead. or other thin object to lift the tounge from the ridges of the end you put through the locing end.
