I'm in Liverpool UK and your library tip in a previous video has helped me to help others, I'm a big reader so do use the library but hadn't thought there would be events at our local one, the city one has free yoga I've been to that, but the local one (I checked because of you guys) has dance classes for the over 50s a boardgames club, a knit and natter group, two chess clubs and a kids coding and crafts club, and of course storytime! I volunteer at a community cafe which provides a cooked meal on Tuesdays and the library has been promoting us and we have been promoting the library and lots of people (some on the edges) have been able to benefit from that. This is a long message! We have great free events in our city especially over the summer, off season holidays are so cheap here in the UK. We take £49 four day Monday to Friday caravan park holidays with a company called Haven, they are nicer than they sound and located in coastal areas or the countryside but also are great hubs for visiting the area, Wales and it's castles for example. Thanks for helping us save money. We love your videos. We don't need Central air in Northern UK not yet anyway!

Tip from England here! If you are travelling away be sure to fill up with petrol in your home town. The petrol prices at motorway petrol stations are so much more expensive. Same on the return journey, fill up before you leave the town you were staying in. This could save up to £20.

I use to make a giant slip and slide from a big plastic drop cloth from the hardware store! Add a hose and some cheap bubble bath, and the kids can skip their bath that night! Great fun! We used tent stakes to stake it down in the yard.

JUST missed the premier (I waited until temps cooled down before baking breakfast cookies - I showed them on FaceBook) When my son was little, I used to take him to a place near our airport (Theo Francis Greene in Rhode Island) and park near the end of a runway. He LOVED watching planes take off & land.

Great tips! I might be guilty of never taking a vacation since I'm so lazer focused on paying off my mortgage. To save on my electric costs, I converted my smallest spare bedroom into a pantry and installed a window A/C unit that operates at 68 degrees to keep my food and medicines from spoiling. The rest of my house stays under 80 degrees in the hottest weather so I'm comfortable with no A/C as long as the ceiling fans are working. I don't run the clothes dryer either as I have an outdoor clothes line that I adore. It really helps keep the house cool as well. Next, I'm budgeting for a small propane BBQ next so that I can cook outside. I tend to batch cook large meals and freeze the leftovers when the weather is more mild

We have a park near us that every Wednesday night during the summer they have cover bands for pop groups and it's free to get in. You an only bring in a bottle of water because they sell it there as well as alcohol , sodas, and some food. The concerts and parking are all free. This past Wednesday we saw The Crystal Ship, a cover band for the Doors. They were great!

We went to a museum today and they had a book I was interested in. It was $20. I went and looked on eBay and was able to get the book for $8. It's a used copy but I don't mind that. Also if we plan on seeing a movie we go to the drive ins. They have a discount day and we save a few bucks. Also they allow you to bring in your own snacks!

We always take advantage of just before and just after peak season rates. For example I just looked up the room rates for Manning Park Resort in the Cascade mountains, British Columbia, Canada. Next week, we can get a mid week rate for a standard room with a king size bed for $119/night ($86.59 USD),but in a month from now it is $179/ night ($130 USD). For a standard cabin it is $239/night ($174 USD)vs a month later $429 ($312 USD). We split the cost with another family (daughter and 2 grandchildren) and rented a cabin (sleeps 8) previously a week before the peak season started. We also took only one vehicle, took our own food (meal planned), and did free extras such as sight seeing and activities such as canoeing and fishing, Othello Tunnels, lookout points and local waterfalls. It is the Canadian part of the Pacific Coast Trail and has many hiking routes within the park itself.

I actually have a separate slot in my travel category for tolls. I break travel down into tolls, parking, car maintenance, car repair, gasoline, AAA, car insurance, car gadgets (but I try to stay away from those.) Voice of experience: hide away your toll coins when you're not in the car. I'm sure you already know that. I only lost 83¢, but it was still a bit traumatizing. It wasn't the amount of money; it was the fact that someone got in to get it. As always, I love your videos! Keep up your great work of guiding us along frugal ways and saving money!!! 😊❤

One summer we hosted Friday Night S'mores. We provided the fire and roasting sticks and everyone brought their own s'more fixings. It made for a low cost fun night. You could do something similar with an ice cream potluck where everyone brings an ice cream and a topping; or even a BYO burger/hot dog/meat and we provide the grill. There are many ways to have fun with friends that doesn't break the budget!

I do most of my cooking outside on the grill. I also have a gas cooktop for camping that I use along with an outdoor deep fryer. If I must use the oven I plan for it and make sure I am doing it so that it has the least impact on the temperature of the house.

Yes! Day trips! I call them "Mini Adventures". I often ask others for suggestions. Saturday I went exploring to find a Bistro and Cidery a librarian had recommended. A beautiful spot way out in the country with plenty of picnic tables and parking. A staff lady wrote out directions for a scenic backroads drive very nearby: hills, hairpin turns, picturesque villages, badlands -- and all within an hour and a half of home. Just followed "word of mouth" tips. Great fun.

You don't have to have central air conditioning. If you are staying in one part of the house, having a local AC unite is more efficient (I'm not talking about portable AC).

Planting trees on the south side of your house can shade your home, particularly the SW corner for that afternoon heat. Obviously depending on the size/type of tree/house it may be 5-10 years before it has a notable impact. Trees on the north side of your property will have less value for shade, but may be valued by a neighbor.

I live just north of Orlando, Florida, and down here, well, when my relatives come to visit all they want to do is "Do Disney" I've done Disney, and I want something less expensive. I''ve found it. I am in Civil War Re-enacting (unless you want to go out of state it shuts down during the summer) and the Society for Creative Anachronisms, which does medieval re-enacting. Re-enacting shuts down during the summer except for fighter fencer and archery practice, all of which are free. So I take my bow and archery equipment and drive 20 minutes once every two weeks for free archery practice, and take my heavy armor out every week for free fighter practice. It is great entertainment, you get to participate, and all is right with the world!

Ode to air con 😍🤣..I live in the UK ... No Air con🥵.. We do have fans but it's really humid here 🥵...At least the heat doesn't last long. I've found a really good hack though .. We can get fan's that you add cold water to both for a room and a hand held version run on batteries, it works pretty well as long as you remember to close the room door where you want to use the plugged one .

I like your videos. Can you create a video about spending money on something that is important to you (even if its not about "saving")? I've learned alot from you, but sometimes you should be extra generous with yourself and others. Especially when you have made smart decisions your whole life and you are getting up there in age. A scarcity mindset only gets you so far and for so long. I get that its a lifestyle and its fun to do as I've done it my whole life. I'm proud of that. Yes, its smart and I do it. That said I'm almost 50 with no debts, savings, etc. I've been smart and chintzy my whole life. Now I'm thinking about what I want to do (and no, its not saving more money) before I'm done. What was it for? What will I regret? Who can I help NOW? I appreciate your thoughts.
