How to save internal parts externally in SOLIDWORKS

I am having a problem with configurations. I make an assembly and it has parts with Excel table configurations. call it abc123. But when I make the same assembly to be a bigger size and save it as a different assembly number say to xyz123 it changes my original assembly. How can I have multiple assemblies that are alike but of different assembly part numbers? When I make a copy of it and change it, it still changes my original assembly file, can I break the reference between assemblies? Thank you James in Texas

SW2020, so buggy, it works using the right click method but not the other way... go figure..
