I like your style, sympathetic restoration. Not over done.

Always one for fix rather than throwing new parts at a bike, even if they exist. I am always on a limited budget. Well done, and many thanks.

Great. I see quite a few ‘restoration’ channels that refit mostly. Where’s the skill in that?

From day one of my training as a mechanic, the emphasis was on cleaning and restoring or rebuilding parts, rather than replacement. Ive never wavered, and am impressed that you are the same.

If they gave a Nobel Prize for motorcycle restoration you’d be a strong contender. This particular build plays to your strengths and has been a pleasure to follow. Kudos for dropping everything and flying to Texas to lend your expertise.

Hi Rob, Only stumbled across your channel last night - and have binge-watched all the Guzzi episodes. It’s of particular interest because my Spada NT / LM2* is on the surgeon’s table as I write. It’s a 1982 bike which I got in ’94 - *one of the two previous owners put a Le Mans ll tank, seat and fairing onto it, and it’s been the most brilliantly reliable friend over the years. Guzzis really have a way of getting under your skin. I’m in awe of your breadth of skills, mechanical, electrical, paint, plastics & composites, and the supreme quality arrived at with the Le Mans, absolutely fabulous work…(let alone business/admin etc etc.) And I really appreciate your presentation style too. Then you fly out to Texas and stay up all night to repair a carbon bike, amazing - truly a magnificent gesture… (it was cool watching firstly their video from their PoV and then yours) - and on top of all that you’re a 10cc fan (How Dare You’s such a great album), as well as John McLaughlin plus a bit of classical too; 10/10 in every department! And now I’ve just watched a clip of you hooning around the Solent in a Fireball!!! - blimey, it’s all there!! Can’t wait to see the LM1 finished - it’s stunning, the work you’ve done on it, really looking forward to the unveiling of the completed bike. I’ve subscribed and hit the bell for noties, and I send very best wishes for continued success and growth with your channel.

Hi Andy, I think I my output was borne out of necessity and boredom in my native Africa. A very kind analysis of me. I’m actually a musician. That’s how I ended up here in the U.K. 30 years ago and why I surround myself with the music I like. In time you will see what ‘My Restoration’ actually means as I hopefully progress it. A long journey when you are a purist! Thank you again

You can always extend the wire, with the same colour plus a shrink down. You can use IPA. Brasso will get scratches out of the rear light plus then use a car compound high Menzerna 3800 ect, can bond the crack V on the inside glue with thin CA.

Beautiful work! I saw you slipping in that much improved universal joint into the shaft drive.👍 I got through three of them on my LM over the 25 years I owned it. Each factory replacement was bigger and tougher than the last.

It’s great to watch a journeyman at work. Your attention to detail is amazing and your skills and knowledge are first class. As well as following your channel I also follow Francis Cade so I was surprised to see you over in America. When I realised it was you I knew that the repair to the carbon fibre headstock would save the day. Well done and an amazing effort from you to help them.

Those springs on the numberplate provide wiggle room to get the back wheel on and off without having to remove the pipes.🙂

Great to see parts being restored rather than replaced! Money saved and it's much more authentic in my eyes. ( I thought were were going to get some behind the scenes of the the America trip)

Always a pleasure watching you work. I have a problem replacing parts that probably don't need to be replaced. If I was doing work for clients I would be losing money left and right. : )

Absolutely superb series. I have a T3 Cali in a state of neglect (mine to my shame). This has given me inspiration to get this poor T3 out of the lockup after 25 years and make it run. You’re so right in that lots of parts are serviceable if a little tired looking. I hate waste. I’m renovating an old R100RS and ratty old engine bits are like new just with vapour blasting. Actually, better than new. T3 definitely next! My thanks, Ian

@@MyRestoration1 I will do. Last done in 1990 then rode to Spain and back. Excellent machine and no major hitches in many miles. Sadly life got in the way…… Look forward to the next one. Utterly superb! Cheers, Ian

The rubbers on the rear numberplate allow the set to be raised without damaging the plate and also give a little wiggle for removing the rear wheel.

Although I agree wholeheartedly with repairing, cleaning, and re-using original components. It only really works for your own projects. If you are charging a client for the work, then the hours spent making something old and tatty look good, FAR exceeds the cost of a new replacement part. Especially if it's something like a brake pipe union or light lens. I would feel guilty charging a client £50 for repairing a £25 part! If I didn't charge £50 for all the time it took, then I would be making a loss. What are your thoughts?
@MyRestoration1

All very valid points in general Nick. In this case I have the tightest of budgets and he requested as much of the original parts to remain as it’s a sentimental thing. I have to juggle what is unsafe or too time consuming over the chance to share restoration techniques for people who are doing it themselves. Thanks for chipping in 👍

Yes there will be. My workshop is currently ingested due to fuel costs so I’m waiting for the fridge to thaw out. You’ll note I recently added a small honda repair which I could do in another building with a heater! Coming soon don’t worry 😉
