Lightweight titanium fasteners and bolts can save you an additional 1kg or so. Plus they last longer, they never rust and they look sick.

Not always as strong in tension tthough so check torque specs and think about safety critical areas. A few grams in one bolt might end up costing you dear.

My BMW R9T is 220kg wet as stock. I managed to take 21kg out of it, bringing it to 199kg. It's made a huge difference to how it handles, however removing 6kg from the wheel via forged alloy wheels and removal of tubes (stock is not tubeless) made by far, by FAR, the largest difference. Focus on unsprung and rotating mass for max gains.

Thanks. All the best, Aaron KNOX

For me it's much simpler to just keep my weight under control and keep my bike pretty much stock. I do have a lithium ion battery but the newer r1's are plenty light for my spirited canyon carving habits. Look how fast Al Fagan is on a stock bike and he's carrying enough timber to build a small dog house or wood shed with. (Sorry Al).

I just stopped eating like a PIG lol At one time I was up to like 240 but now am down to 167 Its not as cool as unsrimg weight but 70 plus pounds less REALLY ups the HP to weight ratio! Might even add another 10 or more years riding to my life! Figure our how much you spend on farbage food? Alcohol every week/month/year total that up and you might be amazed what you can suddenly afford as upgrades for the scooter! Its just win win win!

I hear people say ‘lose weight’ all the time, but what about all the folks who are at a NORMAL weight or even UNDER weight? I’m 5’ 8”, 150 lb. That’s pretty normal. If I lose weight, I also lose muscle. I know it seems contrary these days, but not everyone is overweight. Besides-motorcycles HAVE gotten much heavier through the decades. What was once normal is now hard to achieve due to fairings, pumps, computers, etc.

@@dirkstuff5820 mate I agree with you fully, I myself am a pt with a target audience of bodybuilding and powerlifting. I am around 90kg but about 80 kg lean mass. But i was talking within a sense of most of the modern bikers that weigh like 220 pure fat. But you can if you want remove quite a bit by switching fairing bolts that don't hold a lot of weight to aluminum, switch chain if It's 525 chain to 520(which is on the powertrain so 1 kg lost gains 2 hp) ect

There's always the 'elephant in the room' to address... A good deal of riders throw HUGE amounts of money at saving weight, when they could make the biggest change just by becoming as light as reasonably possible. Using myself as prime example...I could shed an easy 10 kilo's, if i'd swap out the meat pies and beers, for a salad and a brisk walk, here and there.

Motorcycles tend to lose weight while cars tend to get heavier because cars have crash testing.
@dougiequick111 ай бұрын
If someone is really dedicated and willing to SPEND then #1 should be honestly question the model you have ,,,you could be way ahead selecting something ELSE. After that if you are overweight? Your own body ought to be the priorety. Next if you ask me? WHEELS! Premium forged wheels is not just weight but performance! Next? Can you downsize drive chain? Like the wheel change you get even more than just weight. Cheapest (free) weiht saver is to simply keep fuel load as low as practical That can be Major and the weight of fuel is in the worst place up high! Next Exhaust if that works with LEO in your area Then the battery swap is a big duhh...Another duhh weight saviings is simply NOT adding all the bling...all those crash protectors really add up! I mean there are some body parts and mirrors (you DO need one mirror anyway!) and turn signals. rear sets getting rid of passenger pegs etc these can add up and make bike loo better, tail tidy too. Suspension can also be lighter if you were going to do that anyway? Brake component swap can save some weight but pricey....iighter tires SURE if they work for you....the LAST thing I would consider is titanium bolts.....that is over the top crazy money for how little weight. I think one thing easily forgotten is how fast your nice new bike is going to get OLD...the all that money was spent on an OLD motorcycle you might not even love so much two or three years from now....which goes ny fast ....then what? Start all over again??
