@@hoangthanh0210 As a Viet you may know? Chinese characters generally represent sounds as whole syllables, not as letters. These syllables are drawn from the kangxi radicals and the dutizi 独体字 . Grace is great and knows better than me but I do think those are two under emphasized aspects of Chinese language teaching.

Subjunctive (&!Conditional) 3) Chinese Archiv 4) What If Chinese Had Linguistic Markers 5) Chinese & English Counterfactual etc. websites Factual & Counterfactual (hypothetical are in verb modes (moods. Factual includes indicative model. Counterfactual/hypothetical modes have 3 impérative, mild suggestion to strong command conditional if 1! situation,, action etc becomes fact, then a 2nd can become fact subjunctive from mild possibility that a situation could become fact to idea that it has to be fact subjunctive (?) facts that are seen in positive or negative view this is used by modern Chinese linguists but linguists of other languages do not know of this. I took the YOYO CHINESE courses, and I highly recommend them. They took me from novice to low intermediate, in an enjoyable series of classes and other activities. The teacher (Yoyo) was excellent (Grace is too).

Admittedly, 要是 is a new hypothetical conjunction that I have seen here. Thank you! It could have meant something entirely difference if these words were misspoken as 要死 by lowering the sound in the second word.

The lesson is fantastic. But that aside, you could start your own drama series! The dog biscuits scene in particular. You know she put those biscuits up there intentionally so that the other woman would eat them. That was so shady! lol :D
