Great job!! I wish in the Universidad they didn’t teach us “ir a” before teaching the regular future. I would rather use the real future tense, the “ir a” seems like a crutch even if it is correct. 🤔
@anytimeespanol3 ай бұрын
@JuanMoreno-wo5yb I know what you mean, and I agree, but the ir + a is used all the time in Latin America, so it is really important as well 👍 I had terrible Spanish teachers in school and didn't learn much 😒

Good video. I have a question for you. For example, you say that to say “I am supposed to arrive at 6 pm” is “Se supone que yo llego a las 6 pm”. I watched a video of a Spanish teacher from Colombia say that to say this one would need to say “Se supone que debo llegar a las 6 pm”. Are both of these options valid? Is the one using “deber” more common in Colombia perhaps than Mexico? Muchas gracias!
@anytimeespanol3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. It "could" absolutely be that colombians use deber in this construction more often than in Mexico, I can't speak on that for sure, but for me, both are valid. Deber only adds the idea of "something that you must do". They both seem correct. Hopefully that helps 🙌👍
@BGM163 ай бұрын
Both are correct, regardless of the country.

@@anytimeespanol Hello, for me it seems like without the deber it is more of expectation but with deber it seems more of obligation pero both are correct sorry for my english
@anytimeespanol3 ай бұрын
@elsomnoliento I understand what you mean but both are correct. Suponer is considered a truth in Spanish like pensar or creer
@ruthruth7125Күн бұрын
Why does ‘deber’ appear in some phrases and not in others ?
@anytimeespanol20 сағат бұрын
Deber is frequently used with se supone que because it can mean you must do something, but it's not a rule nor mandatory to use it with se supone que. 🙂👍🏻
@liamflanagan74903 ай бұрын
So it's kinda like if we were to say in english "One supposes that" to say "supposed to". "One supposes that you will eat at 2 today"/"You're supposed to eat at 2 today" "Se supone que tu comeras a las 2 hoy"? Edit: So would it also be right to say "Se supone que tu vas a comer a las 2 hoy"?
@BGM163 ай бұрын
Yes, it is correct too.
@anytimeespanol3 ай бұрын
@liamflanagan7490 yes yes and yes! That's exactly right. Remember it's best to try to speak without translating directly but to understand the rule, you got it! You're supposed to eat at 2 today. Both are correct! 😎🙌👍

Esperamos continuarte ayudando!
@katestevenson11553 ай бұрын
I don't understand...is this not a trigger for the subjunctive?
@anytimeespanol3 ай бұрын
I know it can be tricky, but Suponer, like pensar and creer, is followed by the indicative in Spanish. The person is supposing, thinking, or believing in what follows, so he does not express addional uncertainty or doubt by using the subjunctive. Remember, even if something is not true, but the speaker believes or "supposes" it is, we use the indicative after.

Espera…no entiendo. En tú ejemplo, dices “El clima va a estar soleado” cuando tranduces en inglés, dices es “The weather is supposed to be sunny” pero ¿por qué no es “The weather is going to be sunny”? ¿O lo estoy pensando demasiado? Lol 😂
@anytimeespanol2 ай бұрын
El clima va a estar soleado The weather is going to be sunny. The weather is supposed to be sunny. (Supposedly, the weather is going to be sunny)
