You could also position the part vertically on the cura print bed and position all but the sizing ring portion below the bed plane. Cura will then only print what’s above the plane. No cutting requires.

I am sizing some forearm bracers and they get less wide where the wrist goes but I can't make it to the size of my wrist due to my head being larger. I go larger and it is too loose. Scaling to my arm distorts the overall look of the print making it look fat rather than uniform. I was just wondering how to get it where my hand fits through and the bracer/gauntlet doesn't spin on my wrist.
@Chriss_Workshop2 жыл бұрын
You can always scale up until your hand can squeeze through, and then line the insides with foam so it doesnt move much on your arm

@Chriss_Workshop3 жыл бұрын
You can also do the old method without armorsmith. You can check out my "how to cut and slice" video but in short, make a ring of your helmet and print it at different scales to figure out how large you need it to be

With some of the files from Nikko you'll get a helmet and its cut into two pieces already (Darth Revan for example) when importing them into armorsmith it doesn't put them together as one helmet. How would you go about getting the helmets lined up correctly so that you can do the free form transformation?
@Chriss_Workshop3 жыл бұрын
So with that i usually use slic3r. You can go into the settings and turn off the auto positioning. What that does is place the model usually in the same position it was in when it was first made. So you can throw the parts in slic3r and it'll auto assemble the model for you. From there you can export everything as one solid stl
@AlexParton3 жыл бұрын
@@Chriss_Workshop thanks! So let’s say I do this, import it to armor smith to scale, is there a way to then export it and separate the model back to the two individual stls? Would that be be done in slic3r too and then exported to slicing software individually?
@Chriss_Workshop3 жыл бұрын
Yep! Once youve exported from armorsmith, throw it back into slic3r, right click, split, and your all done
@AlexParton3 жыл бұрын
@@Chriss_Workshop Thanks! I just tried to do a starlord helmet using armor smith and it came out a little small. Will need to play around more with armorsmith more. If you have more videos on that for other helmets and such it would be great.

My question is why do you cut the parts? Why don't you just move them below the bed in cura? And just start printing from there
@Chriss_Workshop3 жыл бұрын
That is a viable option. However not everyone remembers, or tries to remember, what height they sank that part into the bed at. Which can mess with ya when trying to assemble the part later only to find you have it split at 2 different heights. Also for larger objects that may not work. What if your wanting to print a test ring for your hips? I dont know about you but im wider than my machines. So i have to cut a ring at the waist, then cut that ring so the segments can fit on my bed. Im just saying, at times, you find you need to cut because the model is too wide, so sinking into the bed may not be an option

I buyed a detailed male human body model and adjust it roughly to my size and using in it blender. its the best way for me soo far. so I can see and fix/design while modeling. I find it way cheaper and accurate to be honest.

Huh?
@Chriss_Workshop2 жыл бұрын
you mean that at the start my fingers are splayed out while putting on the bracer? correct, you dont have your hand open like that. that was done like that because i was on camera so i overdid it a little bit. however, no matter how i shaped my hand, be it like an italian praising some pizza or like a fist trying to hulk smash into my bracer, it still binds at the knuckles, and still scrapes my hand as i try to put it on
