I love that you explained how to fix the colors scanned by the scanner by confronting them with our analog painting. However, I wonder if fixing colors in Photoshop is enough, since monitor calibration could also be a factor, and when I send the file to print, I still could not get the colors like in my analog painting? lol I also thought it's very cool and smart to use the dodge tool for the background texture, I never thought of that!! And I loved the channels tip to select line artwork in a way that we don't get any whitish outline because of the transparency, REALLY cool!! Thank you!!

Unfortunately there is always going to be a small difference between the original, the computer screen and the printed version. It’s inevitable! It helps me to remember that I’m the only one that knows the difference 😅 I calibrated my screen so that when I print, it won’t look darker than my screen. Then I try to match the scan on my screen as close as possible to the original, but give myself grace that even if it’s not a 100% match, as long as it looks good then it’s ok 🥲

So I am a traditional artist I do watercolour and mixed media I have thousands of pieces of work and I’m wanting to license I’ve bought a very expensive camera now thinking I have to scan everything licensing companies not take a photograph at all ?? I can’t seem to get into my scanning settings to set the dpi I’ve worked so hard on getting all of the photographs and editing is a nightmare is it okay to use procreate any advice would be fantastic examples of my art on my KZbin channel many thanks and much love for this information xx

They could accept photographs if they are very professional quality, which is difficult to get! It's not just about the camera, but it's mostly the lighting. You need lots and lots of light to get good quality, but you also need that light to be diffuse (not glaring) and extremely even. That is tricky! Many photographed artworks are easy to spot because of uneven lighting (some spots in the image are darker than others). More than an expensive camera, what you'd need to invest in is professional photography lights (which can also be very expensive). Honestly, I think it is likely less expensive to get a scanner, and easier to operate as well.

@@ArtBusinesswithNess yes I’ve got a very high-quality camera I’m taking images in the best of light I’m editing those images to look exactly like the image so I am happy with it and it’s printing nicely so I was hoping companies would be happy with that I don’t know I’ll wait and see

I was literally just wondering about this today and then this video dropped lol 🤣 I have a Canon printer/scanner (Pixma) but haven’t been able to get it to work for me. All the scans turn out so dull/desaturated ;_; I’ll have to keep playing around with it or invest in an actual scanner

Same thing this is the nightmare I’m going through at the moment as well also have a canon and the seatings on them just aren’t great can’t even set the scanning info dpi all that

@@Karlena_Lewin_Studio Aw man :/ I haven’t looked into this since most of my work is digital nowadays but there might be professionals out there who could help scan them for you, especially since you have a lot of art ready to go to get scanned. Maybe a local print shop offers those services?
@Karlena_Lewin_StudioАй бұрын
@@SalmaIllustrate yes I have done that before I wasn’t actually really happy with the scans I need to learn how to do it myself I think I just get a better scanner with better running system I’ve managed to get a reasonable looking print though I will post a short so you can see :) and also archival ink I don’t believe the Canon is because my prints have faded

I'm sorry to hear your scanner is getting sub-par results :/ I hope some of the tips in this video were helpful for you to adjust the scans in post-production. Lack of saturation can be tricky, but I've found that boosting the contrast or playing with the color balance adjustment layer can help revive dull colors!

Wow your scanner can't even set the dpi? :o That sucks! I didn't even know that was possible, because I've used such cheap scanners a decade ago and even those had resolution setting. That is really not good :(
