I think the extruded aluminium is to cool down the board so the components don’t over heat.

I notice not many scrappers aren't taking out the "diffusion screens" of LCD type TVs. I have a kitchen now with old brittle and yellowed diffusion screens I have to think about replacing today. I want to buy diffusion screen replacement peices for my kitchen lighting and there are no scrapping alternatives vs having to buy new diffusion screens at my local hardware store costing like $10 USD in certain cut rectangular peices. Several TV diffusion screens with screwed in custom bars redesign would have worked also vs my only alternative. 😖

You get hardly any good scrap form new Tv these days. You need to find something 10 to 15 years old to get good scrap.
