I think it's so interesting to see how different nail techs do things. Suzie does her almonds pointier, and she very rarely pinches nails. She's definitely stylistically very strongly influenced by the nail trends of the 80s, while still staying up to date with technique and trends

But these tutorials have really helped me to sculpt and file with intention. Can you do a video in sculpted short nails like the round? Im ok at scuplting and still learning but i find myself practicing on ppl who still want extentions but on the shorter active side and i find myself reaching for tips. I didnt learn on tips so its akward for me. I love love love working on long nails but it just seems like ppl perfer shorter

Hahaha I learned the fun way about changing nail shapes without doing new extensions. It was so cute from the top and then I looked at it from the side and was like, “Oh...whoops.” I like your version of these because I love a nice C curve and not everyone does that with almond shape.

Liz- you are the freaking bomb. You don’t know me at all, but you are a role model for me. You speak so clearly and with such patience, even on a subject you are passionate about. I’ve been doing the flash cure very similarly and so relieved to see it’s a viable method. Because my nail beds are sensitive, I’ve never been able to handle more than 5 seconds at a time on the first couple layers of gel. In fact, that’s precisely why I’ve taken to building with thin layers instead of a thick one. I can control my comfort and still end up with a decent set of nails.

Hey Liz. Another great video. I learned how important forms are to the final shape. That was me trying to get a almond out of a flat square. I have been trying to encase dried flowers and color into the middle of the gel. I don't like texture on the finished nail. I hasn't been going so well. The nails get so thick and I have to spend more time finish filing. Could you show us how to you would incorporate art with texture?

Another wonderful video:) Often, you talk about being careful not to file the side of the nail too much and that it should come straight out from the natural nail. Thank you so much! Such an informative video, however I am a bit confused. With the flash curing like you do, that is enough time still to set the gel properly? So not the full 30 seconds? You then don't have to go in and do another to make sure it is fully set?

Hi flash curing helps to decrease heat and also solidifies the gel just enough to move on. But yes you need to make sure you fully cure the gel to whatever time it recommends.

A couple questions Liz- if you wanted to apply foil glue after finish filing the nail would you add the tacky bond first? Would foil glue even stick to that or is it not necessary? Also, do you ever apply primer before adding top coat. I see a few nail techs fo this. Thanks!!

I see other nail shapes mentioned, how to create them with hard gel, but the one I don't find is my favorite, and my nails' natural shape, oval shaped. Would it be like this almond, but rounding the tip more? I've gotten brave enough to try some hard gel overlays because some of my nails have gotten so thin that just filing them hurts, but they end up looking like "round" nails -- I don't want them very long, maybe a quarter-inch of the free edge showing from the other side, but I'd like a little more of an oval shape than the "round" I'm getting now. Any suggestions of how to get less "round" and more "oval"?

Hi! Quick question! I have been watching almost all of your videos in the gel nail fundemental playlist I haven't found anywhere you mentioning anything about getting allergic because of overcuring gel. I just watch an other nailvideo here on KZbin who is supposed to be a representative of a company that makes some nailproducts. I haven't heard or read anything about it even though I've tried googling it. It was in a videorant about mixing gel topcoat with regular nailpolish. Not sure if that matters. What's your take on allergies from overcuring?

Undercuring is a much bigger problem in regards to gel(especially because people don't want to purchase the proper lamp) then overcuring in regards to gel allergies :)

I don't understand why you wouldn't use your low heat mode...my clients never get heat burn and they don't have to do anything. Yes, it takes 90 sec but by the time they pull in and out and the inconvenience to the client I just think it's worth it. Please let me know why it's never taught. Love your vids Liz 😊
