How To Sculpt Stitches, Sutures, & Stitched Flesh - How To Sculpt Miniatures - Episode 5

We review how to use greenstuff to quickly and easily sculpt stitches, sutures, or stitched together flesh.
I've used this technique a lot on my Haemonculus Coven army, but it can also be used for sculpting roughly stitched leather, say on Ogre Kingdoms, Oruks, or Skaven, or to create some freakish chaos constructs.
In the video I use a custom tool built from a coffee stir stick, but this is basically a very skinny straw. You can replicate it with any very narrow tube that you can crush into an oval shape.

a tip is, if you dont have access to the coffee stirer, you can cut a cotton bud instead

Or any small straw, really. That's all it is: two very small, flattened straws attached together

Great video man! I really think you should continue with the macro and micro sculpt like that, it really is a lot more helpful when we can see the "real" sculpt. Perhaps you could sometimes make the micro sculpt directly on a miniature.

I will definitely do more micro sculpting on miniatures, but it's pretty tough to keep them in focus with my filming setup. Funny enough, some people have said the macro sculpting turned them off at first because they didn't watch any further :P

I have always loved your sculpting videos but I've been curious what brand or type of green stuff do you use? Yours is very different from any other type that I've seen on the Market when it comes to consistency and color. What are you using for the sculptures?

Howdy Lawrence! I'm not sure it's the Greenstuff itself so much as the fact that I mix it with Aves Apoxie Sculpt to make it softer. Maybe that's what you mean?
