We’ve had our Bedourie camp oven for more than 24 years. It’s been seasoned after every wash by wiping it over with a paper towel with a small amount of olive oil and a brief warm up near the camp fire. A trivet will overcome the heat distribution issues. A Bedourie is lighter than a cast iron camp over and won’t break when bounced around on rough tracks. The lid can also be used as a frying pan.

We're new converts to the Bedourie, and so far love it. Yesterday I cooked a Thai green curry in the lid. Something I definitely couldn't have done with the old cast iron camp oven. I'm looking forward to many great meals around the campfire with the newest camp cooking addition.

i got the cast iron oven 3 different size frypans and a double sided grill in a package and treated them last night and my Bedourie oven turned up today and am about to treat it, so ill have the best of both worlds

I still use both, but I lean toward the cast, only because my personal cast iron pot is enamel coated, so there is not seasoning to look after.

“As you can see here im using high temperature oil” Mate, olive oil has the lowest smoke temp of all the oils.

Any decent extra virgin olive oil should have a smoke temp in excess of 200 degrees Celcius.
