Hi Irum, I did a short bridging program and networked with different professionals, both within HR and outside. Coffee chats, formal mentoring sessions, slowly added to my learning and helped me in my transition. I also picked up different volunteering options, which played an important role in showcasing my talents and building my network. One important advice which was given by my mentor and I am sharing it here, I never approached anyone in my network and asked for a job. Everyone understands the situation, but by saying it upfront, you are making it difficult for the other person and then people will start avoiding you. Please be patient, persistent and you will be recognized. All the best.

As per my knowledge, either do masters or pgdm and certification in Canada or get 5-6 yrs(may be exaggerated) of exp in India and then apply to Canada market through PR.

Hi Shab, don't know your background but as a general sector understanding, look for online content by Acces employment or Indus community. Get your HRPA membership and explore CHRP/CHRL content. This should give you the initial boost prior to your landing. All the best!

@@shibinjacob9453 It depends on the region that you are planning to settle in. Let's say if you decide on ON, then you need a certification from HRPA. They have mainly 2 levels, CHRP and CHRL. You can study for the same prior to your arrival. Secondly, these certifications are good to have but not a must. Most of the American HQ company don't ask for it, however you will find Canadian companies esp govt sector asking for these certifications.

Hi Yasser, Local education always helps as it provides region specific laws and information. Additionally you develop a network early on in your career. The recruiters understand the ratings of your institute and the course, giving you an edge over your competitors.
