Meet Khalid Rashid, who moved to Canada in 1997 with a background in Animal Sciences but transitioned into IT. Khalid recounts his journey, starting in a small town near Multan, Pakistan, earning a Bachelor's and Master's in Animal Sciences, and then moving to Canada for an MBA. Realizing his interest in technology, he pursued a degree in Computer Science at Laurentian University.
He faced challenges adapting from a life sciences background to a technology-focused mindset. Khalid's career in Canada began with T-Mobile, followed by roles at Rogers and Huawei, where he managed projects and lead account services delivery. He eventually became a Project Management consultant, preferring the dynamic nature of consulting over a static job.
Khalid advises new immigrants to network actively, connect with professionals in their field, seek help for resume and interview preparation, and utilize social media platforms like LinkedIn. He emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and being proactive in seeking opportunities. Khalid offers his support to those needing guidance in their job search and interview preparation.
