Helps to keep all your data encrypted in the first place too so no matter whose hands the data passes it won't be recognizable.

Sure you should not use the web interface and maybe use an FTP client or use the Synology drive app

I'm wanting to buy a synology mostly for photo backups from my computers, phone, and many ssd and thumb drives. I only need to be able to access it from my home, but I do want my phone to access it when connected to my home internet in order to back up photos and files. Can the synology be accessed from my phone when connected to the home wifi even if I don't enable remote access on the synology?
@GreyTechLive2 жыл бұрын
Hi yes it should be able to do that. No problem. Just so you know It won't back up until you're at home

it is not possible to put guests only in file reading so as not to be able to put any type of extraneous "file" in the nas?

Very good suggestions, actually my NAS is implementing similar protections...

Recently my PC got ransomware attack and the external hard drive connected with the PC also got affected.... If the ransomware attacks the NAS via local network from PC means the NAS will get affected or not ???
@GreyTechLive3 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be if that computer has access to the Nas like if they drive is mapped to it it can encrypt everything on that network drive from what I've seen and only affects the local c drive but now I had been seeing a lot of the have also infected anything that's on the network that it has access to That's why it's always good to have backups on the NAS to an external drive that's encrypted

Hi, it was a very good tutorial, thanks. I have a question, regarding the vpn protection, the one you use in the synology its a free app right? As well the vpn client? What about if you want to use a nort vpn, can you use it? Tks in advance
@GreyTechLive3 жыл бұрын
Yes, correct its free then use something like open vpn for client.
