Thanks for watching and great question! The -500 position on Google is a a short position. Meaning I sold 500 shares to open the trade. If Google's price goes down I can then buy shares to close the trade and make a profit. But in this example I sold first or "shorted" 500 shares at $143.78 and then Google's price went up to $173.05. So I have a rough unrealized loss on this position of 143.78 - 173.05 X 500 = $14,635.
