Facts good job brother. Run, test temp, check speed, recharge lipos and repeat when changing pinions. Got it! High kv don't like big pinions may actually go slower. Gotta find that sweet spot.

Awesome info bro, Castle's data logging feature is gold!! Put together with a temp gun during your runs, and you can easily find the max gearing you can safely push on your ride. Once you have a baseline temp, current & rpm reading.. The rest is downhill to achieving that top speed. Good luck with your test runs! 😎👍

You will need 4s fans and you can use any tp motor from 2200 and lower on kv

Could you recommend a starting point for gearing for my set up. I have a 1/10 speed run build in the works am planning on running 2-3s have a hobby wing max 10 sct 120a esc I’m using a 25t mod1 spur with a rocket 3 7800kv motor. What pinion do you think would be good to get high speeds ? Would a 12t pinion be too low or too high there? Thanks for any tips to help starting out.

Just put the 4030 3900kv 6s tp motor on a arrma felony. It's geared 16/46 mod 1. What would be better gearing for it? Almost burnt up motor. Motor wires melted at bullet connectors.

Depends on how u ripped the car. Gets u got is not bad but u can go 24/39 I would try that also did u use the fans

3900kv on a car that weighs 11.7 lbs is making motor work too hard. Problem with felony is the fit is too tight. There isn't enough room, and it's almost maxed out from factory. Fire team, on the other hand, has wider chassis, more room, and you can swap the drive line from felony right in. I did. Issue then becomes a arms and width. Felony arms and shaft change and turnbuckle change makes car much straighter at speeds once you slam it. That 2050 is plenty fast enough to hear to the moon, but esc will need to change around 140.

I noticed that this explanation is with a higher to spur and starting with a small pinion and working your way up. What I don't understand is why people go with a smaller spur and a high tooth pinion can u explain please.

High kv need small pinion cuz u got big rpm and low kv big pinion to build up the rpm

Put on 800kv motor with xlx2 and start with 27pinion and throw on 39 spur and work ur way up with pinions

I tried a tp7700 2 pole on a carbon drag slash. Was expecting 80+ in under 2 sec, ended up under 60 around 3 sec. I wanted mamba mknster x, but rep convincede to go with copperhead 10(crawler/)esc. I just switched to tp5500kv, but same esc. How do i gwt the performance out of 7700?
