Easy to choose the right speaker, tough choosing the left one.

Start with second hand. Good deals out there and often you get most of your money back if you resale. Have a pair of Technics sb3670 with good bass, for 60 euro, in the A ports. And a pair of Cerwin Vega something with good Treble for 40 euro in the B. Amp can do A+B ports, so for 100 euro I have very satisfied sound. No need to spend 10 times more on a pair of B&W speakers ;-)

Tips : 1.Please check when the video was released. Channels usually do not reply to comments in older videos. This video was 8 years old when you posted your question. An eternity in digital terms. 2.Check the comments box if the channel usually replies to queries. If they don't do that, you are wasting your time. 3.If you think you can replace speakers in your old logitech set, you are sadly mistaken. Seriously, throw it out. Component speakers require their own amplifier, unless they are powered. 4.Always mention your budget when asking around for suggestions.

The presenter makes it sound so casually easy, when in reality, for most of us who are wage-earners have to find the sweet spot in between your budget, and your hoped for performance.

If my amplifier has 1 W nominal power what rms must have the speakers?(same impedance both)
@bobspringer53706 жыл бұрын
Multiply nominal power by Pi to get rms then divide by impedance for each speaker to average room dimensions and you're all set. Worked great for me, good luck.

Well, it's pretty hard until you try one :) Still, you can read different reviews. I recommend soundblast.online. They have pretty short reviews. Hope, it'll help you

Speakers should be purchased on the basis of "quality" reproduction of music. Regardless of your taste a good speaker should have; deep bass response (to at least 40hz, +/-3dB) for good low frequency heft or foundation, good transient response (for attack and decay) good balance between lows and highs, flat (as much as possible) frequency response, wide dispersion of treble tones and open, airy sound, good power handling ability and good to excellent stereo imaging. These are just some of the necessary attributes a speaker system should have to sound good on ANY type of music. Thank you.

Marty Jewell just go to a good audio store and listen listen listen and listen to all the speakers and amps that they have until you find your own sound. I myself like speakers with a British sound.
@martyjewell56837 жыл бұрын
Hi mike, problem is there ain't many "good" audio stores nowadays. In the good old days of the mid to late 1970's (at least in NYC) there was tech hifi, Harvey Sound, Stereo Warehouse, Lafayette Electronics, Great Sounds, The Audio Graveyard, The WIZ, Crazie Eddie, Uncle Steve's and even Korvettes. Still though, really good speaker systems shouldn't have a "sound" of their own. They should be as neutral as possible. Celestion and Rogers come to mind as UK brands. I prefer vintage Ohm Acoustics, Polk, EPI, Allison, Genesis, Infinity Systems and Electro-Voice. In the long run neutral systems will satisfy all tastes. But yes, isn't it fun to discuss and "try out" different speaker systems. Which specific British systems do you use?? My current speakers are; Ohm model L and EPI-180 in living/dining rooms, Boston Acoustics A-40 (kitchen) and Synergistics S12B in workshop. Thanks for the tip.
