Going through this currently in Montreal. $70 in taxes to pay, no duty and yet $280 in brokerage fees from UPS. This has got to be illegal! And after calling about 15 times in the last 7 days, I still haven’t received my documents.

Thanks for the video. I am in Montreal and the same thing happened to me today. 210$ CAD worth of goods and 87.61$ in duties taxes and fees. I thought this was odd. Called UPS and ask how is that possible. The break down was 10.98$ duties and the balance of 76.63$ was for UPS to act as your clearing broker. After I UPS they are nuts the phone agent advised me that I can self clear the package and sent me the instructions via email. All is all this was a 10 min call but man there should be a law on these crazy fees they charge.
@meganallday2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely should not be legal. I’d be ok paying like 2% fee, but paying $60 on a $130 item? No. Absolutely ridiculous.

The hardest thing about doing this process EVERY SINGLE TIME is that you seldom get a person who isn't trying to run you around and pretend they can't give you the forms to self clear. Like what magic word can you just tell them besides "hey I'm a CBSA agent and what you're doing is illegal, so let's skip the song and dance and give me the b15 already." Ironically, UPS who has the most egregious fake rates seems to be capable of giving the forms most times. However, FedEx and Canada Post ALWAYS play dumb and it's so fucking infuriating.

Canadian system of ripping of people with every penny they can. This country doesn't have anything called its own manufacturing and trying to run the country with excessive taxes and fee. I have ordered art supplies from Jackson's uk from usa I paid zero shipping and zero fee over certain limits. But for the same in canada I paid shipping as well as custom which was more tha 100 dollars cad. The most ridiculous thing is same item that ar $5 in amazon usa is $34 in canada amazon....what is wrong with this country. And above that every merchant in usa honors free shipping above a certain limit but in canada I have to pay for shipping, no matter how much I spend. Its not possible to run a country by just taxes, a country needs a real economy which unfortunately canada doesn't have.

I just got a $36 brokerage fee invoice from UPS for an item that costs exactly $0. I didn't buy it. I sent it first to USA for repair (automotive gauge), it got repaired, and sent back to me and now I have this $36 BS broker fee invoice to deal with. I called UPS and they said it's because the shipper didn't indicate it was a "warranty replacement". But the declared value is still $0, why would the broker fee apply when no taxes are to be paid on this!!! I feel like UPS is trying to rip you off every way they can.

I hate ups! I self claimed I followed all the instructions they gave me and some online as well. I did this process in February I sent them an email with all the paper work to the email listed and I got my package. Months later! THEY KEEP SENDING ME LETTERS to pay this stupid brokage fee! Like I have my item, I sent all the paper work. Now they are saying they need some stamped self accounting form which i sent whatever the paper is requesting

Hello, Need some inputs on a situation My brother sent me a parcel which contains laptop, watch (are used) , only ear pods are brand new , shipped from USA and got a customs estimate around $290 from UPS. Is there a way I could negotiate it with CBSA directly since those items are not brand new and I am an international student.I live in Kitchener and which CBSA office would be opt for me to reach out? Thanks in advance

Currently trying to get UPS to send me the paperwork to self clear and I’m on my third phone call! I refuse to purchase from companies that ship with UPS and other people should as well. In this case they shipped with UPS without my knowledge or consent. Such predatory business practices!
@bigrivtodagled82102 жыл бұрын
I refused my package and called them to send me the documents… they didn’t and without letting me know they sent back my package (this was after three attempts of me trying to get the docs). I called the same when I noticed the guy told me to file a complaint and I ranted to him for 20 minutes, he then put me on hold, gave me another case number and told me he sent an urgent message to try to stop them to ship it back. When I checked at the end of the day (July 27- first attempt was July 21 and my first call to them was on the 22nd) it said that “receiver requested to pick it up at one of their warehouses “. If I wouldn’t have ranted, I would’ve paid 127$ US for nothing! It is insane how they treat their clients, I was told I didn’t pay UPS any shipping! The heck I didn’t! I hope this is resolved in the next 2 days! It’s appalling! They are charging me 86$ and are refusing to give me the docs.

Hi! I received My package not knowing that I have to pay brokerage fees. There was a C>O>D File on the package but I didn't notice it until UPS sent me another paper telling me that I have to pay 16$ on top of the 54$ brokerage fee said on the COD File. I've had the item for 3 weeks now without paying the item, mainly cuz I received the 16$ fee a few days ago. And I don't know what to do anymore. (im only 15)

Do you have DHL contact information?
@Tays_steppin2 жыл бұрын
I contacted the email and they gave me 3 options first one was Clears Own' process that has a temporary process change due to covid. The documentation will flow via email. You will not be instructed to go to the port of entry to clear your package. 2. Casual LVS Self Accounting' process, where you need to be a casual importer(non-commercial). Your shipment must be low value ( $3300 CAD or less) and not manifested at customs and you must be willing to go to a nearby Customs office where Courier Low Value Shipments Program clearance is performed. 3. If you will choose the latter option, you will need to wait until UPS is able to clear your package at Customs, after it was released by the clearing agency, you can contact us to assist you to get the document you needed for clearance. You should let the driver know on the first delivery attempt that you are going to self account for your goods and to hold the package at the center.
