Nice drive. Very scenic. Enjoy time with your son. My dad passed away 15 years ago. His birthday was yesterday. I never called him for help. He was a bit upset that I made more money than he did and I had more vacation time my first year than he had after 17 years. Even though he was not happy that his kid worked very hard to succeed, I still helped him the last seven years of his life while he dealt with various forms of cancer and difficulty walking. I was still 12 in his mind. I commend you for helping your son.

Back in Maine no one cared what kind of wood it was as long as it was not Pine spruce or fur. but some of the old timers would not care no matter what. They knew dry pine was fine to burn. My family would burn what ever we had, My dad would use pine to start fires and if he had a lot he would burn it anyways. I am a true believer that wood heat is the best heat. When the power goes out you still have heat and you can cook on the wood-stove.
@noenwarrior1Ай бұрын
Perfect example I can't say how many times we lost power and we stayed warm, cooked food and had hot water to take bathes
@danelionheart5881Ай бұрын
@@noenwarrior1 Oh yes we even had no choice but to melt snow for our bath water. That was not as fun as it sounds when my parents had 8 kids at the time. We would get a new trash can never used and used that for snow put it close to the wood-stove so it would melt then fill out two largest cooking pots and place them on the stove till it boiled By the time the tub was full the water was just about right for bathing. Then four of the youngest took turns taking a bath one by one and then start all over for the 4 oldest. My oldest sister made it clear she was not going to use someone else's bath water so my parents told her that is fine you just get the snow you need boil the water you need and take your bath and not one of the other kids will help you. After her first time doing it all by her self she agreed to share the bath water lmao.

Have you ever had customers that heat that like oak with softwood? Iv had quite a few that like to buy oak with fir to get it to burn. I just got a ton of oak from logging slash and altho its all silver and barkless most of it is bigger and still full of moisture, I’d imagine a lot of it will dissipate quickly after split. I know some people like it like that but unless this cord sells quick I’m probably going to end up cutting it all for next year, gota keep the 600 acre landowner happy and cut as much as I can cuz he wants to burn the piles

I've never understood why, in my area, people don't burn more black locust. It's more of a nuisance than anything now that using them for fence posts has gone out of common practice. Burns hot, grows fast, has a smell when fresh cut but goes away quickly. Good video 👍

We used to have a patch of black locust that we would let grow to 4-5" in diameter then cut them down and sharpen for fence posts. We would get about 400 fence posts a year by selectively cutting and not have to split them. We used locust for boiling sap but had to be careful we didn't warp the pan because it would get that hot if we didn't mix in other wood species.

People also seem to forget, when the customer has paid and you stack for them you are repeatedly reinforcing how much loose wood on the trailer turns into stacked
@InTheWoodyardАй бұрын
Yup! Most are surprised at how much extra I deliver....all the time!
@alfredutri4071Ай бұрын
The main reason I stack my wood in measured rows is because my lengths very due to my harvesting all my wood from dead and down trees. If I was to toss in a face cord loose for delivery without knowing its linear measure it may or may not fill the customers' rack. Because most people think firewood is measured in linear measurement not volume measurement those of us with 16+ inch lengths would fill a trailer in volume but not in linear measure. I know you give extra wood with your system, and so do I with my longer firewood lengths.

Ugly pine.. those knots, are pitch leaden. Produce the most soot. They can plug up combustors and quickly line the chimney system with heavy layers of soot unless burned very hot/fast.
