Dries, I love your videos, talking from heart and I resonate with those. I am not a art graduate, but your videos give me glimpse of how it would be at school. I was in corporate waiting for literally 10 years, and recently out of my cocoon.

Thank you for your videos. Very useful stuff. I would like to ask your advice. I understand that to sell art, the artist must find their style, their signature. I will do that. But, I also have art pieces from over the years where there isn't a consistent style amoungst them. But I would like to sell them. How do I market art pieces where the styles are inconsistent?
@driesketels
@driesketels 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, there's no short answer sadly enough... Keep in mind that you don't need to market every single artwork you make. It's absolutely fine to let your 'earlier' work stay in your studio while you're building up a more consistent oeuvre

There is no exact answer for every person, listen to Tony Robbins, any motivational speaker, they light a fire for you to search out your way, they speak in generalities that resonate. If Dries said to go on Saatchi only, we'd all be there and we wouldn't be finding our niche. You might sell great at an art fair. You might sell great on Saatchi. You might get continual commissions from your circle of acquaintances. And none of those things might work for me. Hear that he believes in you, and believe in yourself. Fly high and fly far, friend.

@@driesketels it isn't just KZbin. It's books and courses and in-person seminars. A friend who did sales of an exclusive vitamin brand, this company hired Tony Robbins to motivate them for sales. She took her husband along for the experience. He should have walked out of there fired up to sell vitamins, right? But he walked out of there fired up to pursue his own dream. He bought property and built a campground. Where did that come from? Empowerment and belief that his dream could also be pursued. Tony didn't lay out how to buy land. He told people that they were valuable. This is also what you do. You have covered everything from juried art competitions to printing stickers to ... the moon. Anything is possible even in a supposedly saturated market and a recession and everything else. The people who see the glimmer of promise and opportunity will follow that star and find their way. All you can do is inspire them to look up. And I thank you for it.

I think that you can be pure and original and still be a successful artist, 100%. I don’t think copying others all of the time is always helpful. I mean emulate their technique or style, color usage, find inspiration, refine that inspiration to what you actually want to work in. That’s my opinion

Very good tips to be something NOW measered by sales and money. Some airbubble ego but not an artist. Picasso tells you to steal to , but he also wrote those who turn there art into businesses are imposers. Very wise notice. As picasso was gifted and passionated. As i believe the artist is the highest member of society, then this person uses the word art a lot but i only hear a business talk. Stealing is not a good story to back your ‘art ‘ up. And you can be the painter that average people buy from but i wreter be the artist that real artist wanne buy from. An originater somebody who knows what he paints en why he paints it. Sales and money are not my measuring tool for finearts. Since this might be the way to money on a poor mentality like this, even with al the money in the world you will still be thepoor artist because of your poor vision/mentality. A broke painter who is motivated by passion is rich as long he has paint! When you make great art sometimes to be relevant is the next generation to see; look at van gogh who sells the most expensive painting after his life . But he made art, this video is a recepy for decoration and how to know succes with your online decoration store. My advice is first comes skill , and then the advice to learn from the great ….. so this guy is obviously Not one of the great if you see what he paints, you see the no inspiration recipy he explaines in the video, So he wont be able to learn you how to be a great artist eather! Artist is a title you get not one you give yourself. Stay humble loyal and motivated for the long road the reward at the end wil be real!

@@Kathaoir I agree. I make art because it fuels me. Art is powerful, creating it is more powerful than money could be. I like to paint and listen to lectures, and to enjoy all the ways that art can change you as a person, to study it and enjoy it. A lot of young people want to paint. And they see these kinds of things and then get down on themselves as if they need to learn this. But if you just create it builds confidence, it can reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions, it can induce flow states, it can teach you about physical aspects of paint and the science behind them, it can teach you that you are more creative than you ever imagined. I am building a platform that aims to sing the praises of individual empowerment through art. Right now I just share it and sell it and I’ve seen that it creates a real, raw and uplifting difference in my local community when art is presented to others in a tactile way. Art has saved my life so I can’t view it without reverence.
