How to sell your car with a lost CA title

I am looking to buy a car that has a lost title and also no current smog. Owner is unable to smog currently. Would this process be any different or more or less the same?

@@ipvno transferring the car with a lost title is not that hard if he is the original owner but without the smog it won’t be complete. So best to smog the car first. If the owner is unable to smog the car then it might need some repairs to pass smog and that could be additional headaches and cost. Look at those factors and decide if it’s worth your time
