I managed to get a $1000 trade-in deal for my POS Grand Marquis that was only worth about $700 specifically BECAUSE I cleaned and detailed the mess out of it first. That car gave me nothing but problems after 100k miles, and the guy trying to sell me on a new car thought he was going to get one over on me cuz I'm female, so I didn't/don't feel too bad about it. But yeah, what he's saying about detailing your car first is spot on. Just make sure you don't fall for the gloss and fancy car smell when you go looking for your replacement 🤌

Awesome info. However, isn't important to actually test drive and physically see the car before buying instead of negotiating everything on-line? Now, I just did my last car purchase that way and thankfully, things went fine. However, doesn't one take a risk of bait and switch or misrepresntation?
@agrippa1234 Жыл бұрын
A couple of points and a question; a. (As you have noted before) remind sellers that mods and add ons usually cannot be added to the price and often DETRACT (though I have gotten some great deals on parts when owners remove mods and return the car to stock) b. You may have to deal with DIMINISHED VALUE, a byproduct of carfax when a damaged car is now worth less than before and that amount is measurable. Question; Should you, as many folks do when posting pictures, be the honest person and show closeups of the flaws, the chips and dings or does that actually detract from the potential sale?

Great video, quick question, when negotiating for a new car when do you break the news to the sales rep that you are only going to pay no more that $100 for Doc Fees?
@glenshepard6960 Жыл бұрын

@glenshepard6960 Жыл бұрын
@Michael M you are welcome. The FTC has cracked down on dealerships with new laws in the past few years. Doc fee was originally allowed to send paperwork to the state. All done electronically now. But dealers keep these charges to fill their pockets. The last vehicles I've purchased were from dealerships that don't charge doc fees. If it were mandatory, they'd have to collect it also. Not mandated. Those are usually the most honest dealers to deal with.

I don't deal with newer cars. Just starting out but I'm focusing on 2000 and older vehicles, hopefully with some sort of intrisic value. I fix them up, clean them and try to make a profit. It's a whole different business than selling newer used cars for sure.

Looking for a car now. The problem I see is people thinking their car is worth so much more bc they added mods. To me, it is not worth more as stock is always better. The annoyingest posting is "make me an offer" or "testing the market" and "looking for trades". We know u want the most money u can! Just tell us what is ur price! Also, will be selling my mother in laws car soon. It seems like a no brainer to be transparent. I want more than the dealership will offer and the buyer wants it more less than the dealership will sell. We meet in the middle and both will be happy. I took a post grad class at Kellogg School of management and they taught us that the goal of business negotiation is not for u to "win". Its to find the best outcome for u and the other person across the way. Everyone has to make a living and everyone wants to save money. It was surprising that a business school had that kind of mentality. In class, we all were getting ready to beat the other person.

Only in the car market does mods not add value 🤡 you buy a house and add a pool value added you add a fence added value you add a car lift in the garage value added... Just stop bro you want a stock car go find a lame who didn't mod their car and buy that one
@DanLee88842 ай бұрын
@cch201992 well, it depends. Houses with pools might seem like they might be worth more but resellability gets more difficult as not everyone wants to be responsible for a pool. Its not always a plus for people. Renovations are great unless your tastes are so specific that other people don't want it. Cars in general don't appreciate in price like a house. This is the market. Drive a new car off the lot and it already depreciated. Adding new expensive mods to an old engine and body doesnt make the entire car better, not to mention, like renovations, not everyone like the particular mods. Mods dont make the car last longer, many times it shortens its life span. Also, I wonder what percentage of mods have been done the right way vs screwing up the car. I have seen so many modding videos where people don't care as long as it gets added to save money. Not to mention, you don't mod the car to drive it safely. You push it to the limits. Those are very common concerns with molded cars. Of course there are always people who say "it's pretty" and buy them anyways. There are those to mod cars in a way they can restore it back later if needed. All I am saying is mods adds risk to a vehicle as much as it might look cool and make it more fun. No having mod on your car isn't lame. It's average. Not to mention there are many posers who put lame mods out there. Haha.

This guy has some issues. He attacks every single negative review on his google page as being fake. And he even outs peoples personal information on some of those reviews. I know that he has even had legal issues relating to reviews and harassing people who don't leave a good one. As a business owner in the auto industry myself, I am aware fake reviews exist and can be frustrating. But you have to be open and willing to accept criticism. No business is perfect and listening to your customers is vital to improving. I highly doubt this guy is able to make it in his little location in Georgetown. Car dealers in this market have been decimated and he is more of a car salesman, not a car dealer owner.
